. /Qualifications
1.
Foreign students with a high school diploma are eligible to apply for under graduatestudies at NIU; eligible students holding recognized bachelor degrees may also apply
for offered by NIU Graduate programs.
2. If one of the following fits your situation, you are NOT entitled to apply as a foreign
student:
(1)You hold overseas Chinese status, or have applied for admission as an overseasChinese at any university/college in Taiwan, the Republic of China (ROC).
(2)You have obtained a high school degree as a foreign student in the ROC and would
like to pursue a further degree, or have been expelled by a university or college in
the ROC.
(3)You hold Hong Kong or Macau or Peoples Republic of China nationality.
(4)()You hold ROC nationality (according to the Article 2 of Law of Nationality).
(5)You held ROC nationality, and have not renounced it in the 8 years immediately
prior to the expected starting date of your enrollment at NIU.
NOTE: According to the Article 2 of Law of Nationality, a person who meets one of the
following requirements acquires the nationality of the Republic of China.
(1) *1980 2 9( 9)
A person whose father or mother was, at the time of his (her) birth, a citizen of the
Republic of China. *The situation of mother does not apply to those who were born
on or before February 9, 1980.
(2) A person born after the death of his (her) father or mother who was, at the time of his
(her) death, a citizen of the Republic of China.(3)

A person born in the territory of the Republic of China and whose parents are both
unknown or are stateless.
(4)A naturalized citizen.
The provisions specified in sub-paragraphs (1) and (2) of the preceding paragraph
shall apply to minor children on the date of the promulgation of the amendment of
this Law.
Violation of the above-mentioned rules would result in immediate cancellation of theapplicants admission or the deprivation of the applicants recognized status as a
NIU-registered student, or revocation of the applicants NIU diploma. Furthermore,
no certificates will be given.
4-6 1-4NOTE: Undergraduate programs must be finished within 4-6 years. Master Degree
programs must be finished within 1-4 years.

Proficiency-Huayu OR Chinese language training certificate from accreditschool/institute.
(2) TOP //
Applicants from non-English speaking countries who apply for graduateprograms shall provide the basic level certificate of the Test ofProficiency-Huayu OR Chinese language training certificate from accreditschool/institute OR provide English proficiency certificate which are sufficientfor department/institutes request.
(3) / 2
Admitted international students who do not reach the criteria for Chineseproficiency shall take Chinese language training in NIU for 2 hours per weekupon department/institutes request. The score of training performance will beforwarded to the department/institute by the Chinese teacher in the end of thesemester. Those who still not reach the language criteria shall continue takingChinese language training.
(C)/Review and Evaluation
The admission decision is mainly based on the applicants written documents andmaterials submitted to the University.
III. /Application for Admission and Enrollment(A) 99 4 9
The complete application for fall semester 2010 must be RECEIVED by April 9,2010. Applications received after the closing date will not be accepted.
(B)Applications can be submitted either in person or via the postal service.

(D)/Required Materials for Application
(1)
Submit the following documents in the order as listed below and clip them on theupper left corner.
a. Two copies of the application form with recent 2-inch photos attached(full-face image).
b.
A photocopy of the applicants highest degree diploma, a notarized Chinese
or English translation of the diploma, and an official transcript in Chinese orEnglish. (The copy of his/her highest diploma and the English transcript mustbe officially notarized by the overseas office of the R.O.C. in the countrywhere the documents were originally issued.)
c.Two letters of recommendation
d.A study plan either in Chinese or in English
e.Financial statement (with sufficient funds for the applicants entire stay ofstudy)
f.()Certificate for Chinese or English Proficiency (Please see LanguageRequirement)
Note Application will not be accepted if any of the above materials is missing or
late. No submitted documents will be returned.
(2) /Important Regulations
a.
International students who are dismissed from other universities in Taiwan arenot eligible to apply to this University. Applicants who violate this regulation
will have their admission nullified or student status revoked.

b.International students who have completed undergraduate courses in Taiwanand desire to take postgraduate studies should follow the application
procedures.
c.
Any violation of academic honor or general laws will result in dismissal fromthe University. Should the violation be found after the applicants completionof his/her study, the University would deprive them of his/her former studentstatus and revoke his/her degree certificate.
d.These application regulations for international students are based upon theRules for Admitting International Students to NIU.
IV. /Dates for Admission Evaluation
99 4 19 4 26The application will be evaluated from April 19 through April 26, 2010.
V. /Admission Regulations
The final admission will be decided by the International Students AdmissionCommittee according to the recommendation of the departments or institutes to beapplied. A number of provisionally admitted students may be put on the waiting list.The departments or institutes may choose not to grant any admission, if the minimumrequirements have not been met.

VII. /Registration and Enrollment
(A)
All admitted students should register with the department being applied to by thedesignated deadline. Applicants who fail to complete these procedures are regardedas having abandoned their applications for admission.
/Documents needed at the registration
(1)/Applicants Passport
(2)/Original copy of the highest diploma obtainedA student accepted for admission should submit one copy of his/her highest
degree diploma and an English transcript, officially notarized by the overseasoffice of the R.O.C. in the country where the documents were originally issued,at the time of registering at NIU. Please contact your Ministry of Education forspecial regulation of documents verification.
(3)Legal medical coverage documents by insurance company or a photocopy of
NHI card which issued by Bureau of National Health Insurance, R.O.C.
(B)
Accepted for admission students who for any reason are unable to enroll in theexpected or target semester may apply to the University for one-year orone-semester deferral of the admission before the announced deadline. The deferralis valid only when approved.
(C)Transferring credits from other universities is possible by application to the
concerned Department/Institute. Institutional transfer is evaluated based on thegeneral policy of the University.

Complaints regarding application results should be submitted in writing to the
Office of Academic Affairs within 30 days after the announcement of the
admission results posted on website. Anonymous complaints will be dismissed.
