3-Dimensional Works

This section is comprised of some of the 3D works that I rst began making. I show mediums that I have found great enjoyment working in. Currently I am working primarily with the 3D mediums of plaster, found ma-terials, bers, and paper. I really enjoy doing assemblage and I have been highly inspired by the works of

This was some of my rst work where I experie-mented with the ideas of collage and assemblage. I wanted to use found materials and objects to create an overall feeling or tone. I feel that each pieces gives the viewer, a type of snap shot sensation of an idea or thought.

I higly enjoy this work and plan on continuing to develop my style with assemblage. Currently, I am woking on a very alrge scale collage piece that is well over 8 feet tall and 4 feet wide. It is centered around the dutch phenomenona of Tulip Mania in the 1630’s.

2-Dimensional Works

This section focuses on the 2D works that I have done in the past. I really enjoy working in color and ex-perimenting with dierent mediums. These pieces were more about medium exploration. Many of these are my very rst pieces in the medi-ums such as gauche, colored pencil, and pastel. Now, I am currently trying to do more mixed media. I really like creating a contrast within my work as far as surface texture and style. My style is very unique and I feel it comes across in most of the works I make. In a way it is my hidden signature.

During this time I started experiementing with chalk pastels and charcoal. I was looking mostly at cubist works and decided i wanted to do my own interpretation of this movement. I wanted to fragment and sim-plify the image instead of breaking in apart completly. I was very inspired by the works of Braque. I did a lot of these semi-cubist images. Again, inspired by Brague I also created a series of string insturmental pieces during this time. I not only thought them to be a beautiful subject matter but found the shapes hidden within their forms to be very interesting and elegant.

COLOREDPENCIL

Prior to the year 2008 I had never worked in colored pencil. I was amazed to learn actually how terrible my knowldeg of this medium was untill i began to work in it. I knew of color blending in reguards to paint but never with a dry medium. At this time i had not yet begun my experimention with color in really any dry mediums yet. Now, I absolutly love this medium. I continue to work in it reguarly and recently went to see the works of Shizu Saldaman-do, an artists that works souly in colored pencil. The pieces to the left and above are amoung the rst two works I ever made with this medium.
