The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport in Hong Kong SPECIAL RESOLUTION TO BE PASSED AT THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – ADJUSTMENT OF CERTIFICATION FEE FOR STUDENT MEMBERSHIP 1. It has been discussed and approved by the Council to have the following proposal be

introduced to retain and attract Student Membership. Other than for an objective of membership growth, the Institute will be able to reach out to youngsters and give them the support in their career development in the transport/logistics profession.

2. Members are asked to consider a waiver of the annual membership fee during the

course of Student Membership for students from CILT/CILTHK accredited programme but they would be required to pay the HK$150 application fee when apply for the CILTHK Student Membership. If members approve the proposal, we propose the new scheme to take effect in the new session of 2014/2015 starting from 1st October 2014.

3. Currently, eligible students are basically divided into two groups: studying either a 2-

year programme (sub-degree/top-up degree/master degree) or a 4-year degree programme. Entry Requirements/Current Fee Structure for CILTHK Student Membership i) Aged below 25 ii) Full-time students studying full-time transport- or logistics-related programme iii) Annual Fee is HK$120 (+ one-off application fee of HK$150) As a ‘per capita fee’ has to be paid to CILT International for all members including Student Membership. Membership Committee (MC) estimated the incremental fee payable to CILT International for membership beyond 1,000 should be around £2.4/year equivalent to HK$30/year (i.e. £1.5 (M1) + £1.5 x 0.6 (M2) = £2.4/year). MC hereby suggests a proposal – only the application fee of HK$150 to be charged to cover “the cost” irrespective students from fully or partially CILT/CILTHK accredited programmes. The waiver of annual fee shall be for a term up to 4 continuous years and Student Member shall require a renewal of membership each year to certify student status. If only an application fee is charged, Student Member will enjoy a saving from HK$120 to a maximum of HK$480 depends on the duration of the study or eligibility for qualifying to be a Student Member.

4. Special Notes i) The Council shall review the scheme in 4 years’ time with an interim review after

the second year. ii) The scheme would be introduced to the students through the programme

leaders/education institutions. iii) All eligible current Student Members of CILTHK will be waived for Annual fee in

future as long as they are qualified for Student Membership. iv) Since minimum fee is charged, Institute news (e.g. CILTHK Newsletter)/circular to

Student Members shall be sent by electronic means instead of mailing by post to minimise the administration cost.
