1.DEPARTMENT OF ORAL MEDICINE AND RADIOLOGY

Introduction:

Oral Medicine is a speciality in dentistry which emphasizes on the importance of diagnosis

and management of Oral and Dentofacial disorders. All patients visiting the department are

screened after through medical history, clinical examination, radiographic examination which

is recorded in the Out Patient Card, diagnosed and sent to the respective departments for

further management. We specialize in non- surgical management of oral lesions and

conditions.

Theoretical knowledge and clinical skills are imparted to the students in this

department because of voluminous inflow of the patients. As said ‘ Mouth is the mirror of the

body, Oral Medicine and Radiology department focusses on early diagnosis, prevention of

tobacco associated diseases, management of medically compromised patients and patients

with systemic diseases.

Department of Radiology:

Our department specializes in maxillofacial radiology which is equipped with intra

oral machines and 2 digital panoramic and intra oral machines where the facilities are

available for intra and extra oral radiographs.

Tobacco awareness programme:

Our department conducts tobacco awareness programme on the second Monday of

every month also providing tobacco cessation clinic where more than 1000 patients are

benefited. We encourage active participation by the under graduates, post graduates and

faculty members. The students are appreciated with certificate by the department.

Inter-departmental meeting - Tumor board meeting:

There is an active interdepartmental activity where we have the tumor board meetings on

the first Friday of every month which encourages the staffs and the postgraduates from the

department of Oral Medicine, Oral Surgery and Oral Pathology to share their expertize

knowledge on the various aspects of the case.

Innovative teaching & evaluation techniques:

Our Department practices many innovative teaching methods like the problem based

learning on clinical cases and Objective Structured Clinical Examination apart from

regular internal and external evaluations.
