WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 1, 1862 Cloudy & warm, pleasant & part of the day thawy, but came up very windy & cold this eve. Tended planing machine, grist mill & cracker some. Got in some short  boards. Helped some about getting out c ask heads. Handed up boards & c. THURSDAY 2 Clear but very cold & very windy. The wind last night  blew the board all about. Could feel the house rock the wind blew so hard. Have not done a great deel to day. Sorted out some boards & got in l load of heading & stufed them. Fixed some broken clothes dryers. Setup some casks & c. FRIDAY 3 Clear but very cold & very windy. Sorted some boards & handed them up & plained some. Straitened some  boards for Mr. Mires. Tended cracker & gri st mill some. Picked up lot of sort boards that the wind spread & got them into the mill. Large load went to C. Tiltons with a load of boxes & some boards to Mires & c. & c.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 1, 1862

Cloudy & warm, pleasant & part of the day thawy, butcame up very windy & cold this eve. Tended planingmachine, grist mill & cracker some. Got in some short boards. Helped some about getting out cask heads.Handed up boards & c.

THURSDAY 2

SATURDAY, JANUARY 4, 1862

Very pleasant & very cold & windy. Tended planingmachine & grist mill & cracker. Set up some casks, gotout lot of ice from the rack & c & c. Forgot the rest.

SUNDAY 5

Very pleasant but cold & windy. Went to meeting all day.Rev. Horrace Parker preached. Emeline went with us inP.M. Alvah went with his covered carriage. We did’nt goin the eve.

MONDAY 6

Snowed most all day but little snow fell. Clear this eve.Went after a washing machine. Went all about the village before I could find it. Roofed over lot of the boards & picked up the scattering ones. Carried C. Tilton a load of  boxes. Went to store & got a bbl flour & a plank for to fixthe slead. Worked fixing the slead & c & c. Got out somestuff __?__.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 7, 1862

Cloudy part & pleasant part of the day & cool. Workedon the Slead, fixing it, making new sides & c. Helpedwash the buggy. Tended cracker & grist mill some & c.

Alvah & Martha went to Framingham.

WEDNESDAY 8Very pleasant & cool, warm P.M. Worked on the slead awhile, than went to Greenwoods (the blacksmiths) & gotit ironed. Finished it. Boarded some heads for dowells.Tended cracker & grist mill & c. Mahlon Daniels &wife came here to day & I sold my Wright lot to him for $125., throwing in what he owes me. Cought a large rat.

THURSDAY 9

Cloudy & warm most of the day. Shut the water out of the floom & A. & I went & got some sticks from under 

the wheel. Went to the blacksmiths & got the wagonfixed. Drawed the 5 ft boards in to the mill, 3 load. Putsome heads together & c & c. Emeline went toHopkinton with John & Sarah & Harriet. Alvah went to  __?__ __?__.

FRIDAY JANUARY 10, 1861

Cloudy Warm & thawy. Began to storm some towardnight. Boared & dowelled cask heads, set up casks, brought in grain & c & c. Went with a load of boxes, partto temple, part to Lealand & to Wm. Jones. Calledat P.O. & store. Am tending grist mill this eve.

SATURDAY 11

Cloudy part & pleasant part of the day. Set up casks,

dowelled, heads some, plained some. Tended grist millsome & c. & c. Tended cracker & grist mill some thiseve. E. went to So. Framingham to day.

SUNDAY 12

Snowed last night 5 or 6 inches.. Cloudy, misty to day.did’nt go to meeting to day but have been here at Alvahs& Johns.

MONDAY JANUARY 13, 1862

very pleasant & cold. Carried a bbl of flour back toWiggins & a letter to the P.O. & bought a bbl of flour atGeo. Joneses. Tended grist mill & cracker & plainingmachine & handed up some boards.

TUESDAY 14

Cloudy A.M. Very pleasant P.M. & cold. Tended plaining machine. Went to South Framingham with aload of boxes, part to __?__ , part to Hanson & a loadof casks to Mr. Alden to night & c & c.

WEDNESDAY 15

Very stormy snow in A.M. & rain in P.M. Was comingcome in morn but did’nt as it stormed so but Edmondcame after us with the horse shod at Greenwoods. E & Istarted for home about 1 P.M. Ed staid there. We gothome about 5 o’clock. In morn I picked up & piled back some bords. & c.

THURSDAY, JANUARY 16, 1862

Very pleasant but very windy. Very icy, slipery. Staidabout house. Went to the meeting house & Dea. Whitingabout tea party. Went to co. Clarks with Mahlon Danielsto get a deed & mortgage. Came back by meeting house& in eve, e & I went to tea party & tended table & c & c.

FRIDAY 17

Cloudy most of the day, snowed a little. Gave Mrs.Abigale Alexander a deed of the Wright lot in A.M. & inP.M did but little. Did chore about house & about & ineve we, E & I, went to the Tea party & tendedconfectionary table. & c.

SATURDAY 18

Stormy snow rain & hail. Worked abut home some &helped clean up the meeting house & cary things aboutfrom there & c. Staid at store some & c & c. Jos has beento Boston. I paid 2 noats, 1 that A. A. Newell, & 1 H. C.Peck held against me.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 19, 1862

Stormy rain & hail mist cold storm, freezes to the trees.Went to meeting in A.M. & carried a load in P.M. &

came back with the horse & went after them after meeting. Rev. J. H. Dearing preached. Jos. went to D. T.Briggses & about for them

MONDAY 19

Stormy snow rain & hail. Helped E. about the washingsome. Put my sleigh together & cleaned it. Rev. Mr.Dearing has gone home with fathers. Worked for Hermon turning shoes & c. 6 hours, 80 shoes.

TUESDAY 21

Cloudy & cool. Stormed very little, fine hale or mist.Helped shell some corn 2 bus. & boiled swill for hogs.Cleared out the old desk & clothes room & put up somehooks in the clothes room & c & c. Started to go toHermons to work but he has gone away. Father went toWoonsocket.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 22, 1862

Stormy, snowed most of the day. Worked for Hermon 5¼ hours turning horse shoes, 77. Sold my harness toSeawell Adams for 9.50. Took fathers note for $75.00.Edmond came here to day.

Very pleasant in the morn but cloudy or hazy most all day& warm. Did chores & c. about home part the day &worked for Hermon turning (36) shoes & splitting somesteel, 3 hours. Father, Mother & Abbie went a visiting &Jos. went this P.M. Staid in the store some.

FRIDAY 24

Cloudy & cool. Chilly. Chored about house some & E. &I went to Woonsocket Falls & about there some. Tradedsome & c. Jos. , Abbie, Hattie & the children went upthere for a sleigh ride with Dea Whitings horse. We wentto the Division to night. Abbie was initiated.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 25, 1862

Very stormy, hail or snow & rained hard in P.M. & thiseve.Picked over apples & divided them. Painted the smallwood box. About house some & c & c. Mr. H.Stockbridge has been here writing a deed & c & c.

Very windy & blustering, otherwise very pleasant. Staidat home all day. No meeting to day for Rev. J. G. Dearing

did not come & the going is poor. Went to see J. D.Wales this eve. His eye is sore. E. & Abbie went withme.

MONDAY 27

Very windy & cold but pleasant. Helped about thewashing. Painted the small wood box again. Worked for Hermon 6 hours turning shoes & taking care of cattle &firing mill iron & c. Hurt Hermons lip with the

hammer.

Very pleasant & cold. Cleared up the wood house.Painted the large wood box. Sawed a little wood & gotit in. Bought some sleigh bells. Jos & Abbie went toFranklin & carried Hattie to her mothers.

Very pleasant this morn but clouded up & snowed beforenight. Went & got Jos oxan & helped get ice. Mr.

Pherson, Hermon, Father & Jos helped.

FRIDAY 7

Cloudy part & pleasant part of the day & warm & thawy.Went up to Mahlon Daniels to get him to help get ice.We drawed most of the day. Mahlon helped, 2 or 3 hs,some. Dea Pond, 2 or 3 hrs, Dea Whiting, 2 or 3 hs., &Mr. Pherson, Joseph & Father most of the day. Have been to the Division with E., Jos. & Abbie.

Very pleasant & cool, thawed some. Worked on the icemost of A.M., packing it with Jos. Got the ice house mostfull. Winnowed some beans. Carried some wood into thewood house from old shop & c.

In P.M. took a sleigh ride.Went to the old Elder Balow meeting house. Called &got the key at Ida Balow. Called to Chs. Scotts & wentup to Mahlon Danielses. __?__ & Abbie went with me.

Snowed in A.M. & pleasant P.M. & went to Dedham tothe Court house & got some deeds & left some to beregistered. Than went to Uncle Peltiah Whitings & staid awhile. Was there to dinner. Called & staid a while to Mr.Woods. Came home in the last train.

THURSDAY 13

Cloudy part & pleasant part the day. Snowed some.Warm. Cut & got up some old apple tree & a large cherytree & cut part of it up for the fire & put in the woodhouse. Dug (or helped) dig out the hay scales & c & c.

FRIDAY 14

Cloudy, most of the day & rained a little. Helped shell thecorn, most all shelled except some for seed & some of mine. Went & helped Mr. Steadman load a load of Josephs hay. Jos had gone to Mr. Pikes. At house some &

c & c.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 15 1862

Cloudy & snowed most of P.M. Chilly. Cleared up thecorn in wood house & cleared up in old barn & put thecovered wagon in there & cleared up old shop. Movedthe sleepers in there & c & put the open wagon in there& c & c. Joseph & Hattie been to Boston. Sold some 62/3 bushls corn to Dea. Pond for 2.47.

Stormy A.M. snow & rain but cleared off before night.Warm. Split up some wood. Helped Jos some clear aditch for water from the store & c. Fixed the hay cutter where it was broke & c. & c.

Very pleasant & cool. Went into the woods & choped alittle with father in the wood back of old barn & c. & inP.M. went & made calls at Mr. Heatons & at Mr.Stockbridges with Emeline & Hattie. Mr. J. Metcalf called here. Went to the Division in eve. Fred & Ann

went with us.

SATURDAY 22

Cloudy part & pleasant part the day. Warm. Went & gotJos oxan & got a load of wood & drawed home. Sent 10 bushls my potatoes up to Blackstone. Fixed a bolt to mysleigh. Cleared up in the cellar some & c. In eve, wentto the Sons of Temporance to Sheldonville with Ed,Fred, Ann , O.P.W. & Emeline.

Cloudy, foggy & rained most of the day. Cleared off toward night & was a bright rain bow. Clouded up againto night & storms this eve & very windy. Has been verythawy to day. Worked for Hermon 7 ½ hours turninghorse shoes (108) & c. Alvah & his wife went home thismorn. Jos been away with the horse.

TUESDAY 25

Very pleasant or clear but very cold & very Windy.

Helped in the house some, about the washing & c. Sawedsome wood in wood house & c. Sawed some wood inwood house & c. Went up to Hermons & worked 1 ½ or 2hours, turning (23) horse shoes., went to Mr. Phersonsfrom there. Was a large fire in Boston last night.

WEDNESDAY 26

Pleasant part & cloudy or hazy part the day & cold.Helped some about shoeing the horse. Mended the halter.Sawed & split some wood. In house some & c. Had myhair cut by Emeline. In eve, Emeline & I went to Mr.Amos Woodards. Father went to Woonsocket &Blackstone.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 1862

Snowed all day & windy & cool. Sawed a little wood,helped cut some pumpkins. Went to Mr. Frosts & carriedsome corn & left it to be ground & got some shavings.

FRIDAY 28

Driving snow storm most all day. Helped clear off & fixsome shelves in the cellar way. Set a pain of glass in our 

kitchen. Sowed the harness some & c. & c. In storesome. Comenced peeling a broom this eve.

SATURDAY, MARCH 1

Pleasant but very windy & blustering. Cleared up the oldshop some. Helped father fix (or make) a large hammer or sledge & help make a pair of tongs to us in shop & c& c.

Very pleasant & cool. Have been to meeting all day.Rev. J. Deering preached. We went with the horse &sleigh. Went & got Ann & Patty & others. No meetingthis eve.

TUESDAY 4very thawy to day

Thunder shower in the night & rained hard part of A.M.& windy, pleasant part of A.M. but squally toward night.Helped dig a ditch in the ice to cary the water from thestore, for it ran in there. Cleaned out lot of rotton potatoes& c. from the cellar & c. We ate supper at Josephs & ineve went to the School meeting.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5, 1862

Very pleasant & cool. Went into the wood back of old barn with father & cut a large oak tree & trimmed it out& sawed off 2 (9 ft logs) The tree wasnt very sound.Staid at store some. Looked over the Parish book some &c & c. Emeline went to Mr. Pherson with Jos, Abbie &Hattie & children.

THURSDAY 6

Very pleasant in the morn but cloudy most of the day.Helped Emeline clean & fix the bead & c. Cut a littlewood. Went & got (Jos) the oxan this P.M. & drawed 3small load of wood & logs that we cut yesterday. In A.M.,father & Mother went to Dea. Whitings & to Jos Clarks.This eve Jos, Abbie, Hattie & Eddie have gone toFranklin to the exabition.

FRIDAY 7

Very pleasant & warm. Went to Mahlon Daniels & gotsome milk. Helped father set a wheel barrow tire. Cut upsome small wood. Carried Mrs. Richardson to Dea.Whitings & this P.M. went into the woods back of old barn & choped wood with father till 5 o’clock, thancame home & put up 11 bushls of potatoes for Mr. Pike.He helped me. I have got to cary them to Franklin.

SATURDAY, MARCH 8, 1862

Very pleasant & warm. Went to Franklin with 10 bushl potatoes & 1 of turnips with the sleigh. Carried them tothe Hotel. Helped some about shoeing the horse &fixing a shovel, clearing ditch for the water to run off from store. Staid at store some & c. Jos. been to Boston.

SUNDAY 9

Very pleasant & warm. Staid at home from meeting allday. Rev. J. Deering has not come back yet, so DeaPond read a Sermon to day. Emeline & I took a walk down the R. R.

MONDAY 10

Pleasant most of A.M. but clouded up & began to stormsome in P.M. Warm. Put up & carried Mr. E. Moses 10+ 1 bushels turnips. Went & got some milk at M.Daniels. Went & got a load of small wood with thehorse in woods & have cut it up in wood house. Pickedover part of my apples & c. Father gone to Boston.

Very pleasant & warm & thawy. The sleighing is gettingrather poor. Chored around home here some. Went up toHermons to work but he was goon. E. went with me. Wecame back & made a box for Fremonts rabbit & c. Father came home from Boston to night & brought a newharness & c.

Very pleasant & warm. Fixed a saw frame to the newsaw. Sawed, split & got in some wood. Cleared up thehorse barn some. Fixed a calf pen & c & c. At store some.Jos, Abbie & Amanda have been to Boston.

THURSDAY 13

Cloudy most of the day & cool. Have been in the woodsmost all day, back of old barn, chopping with father. Joshelped some this P.M. Rev. J. Deering came back to P.M.

FRIDAY, MARCH 14, 1862

Stormy most of the day. Fine mist, snowed a very littlelast night. Have been in the house most of the daylooking over my Journals & papers & c. Went to M.Daniels & got some milk. Have got a bad cold.

SATURDAY 15

Very stormy, rain, hail & snow, from N.E. Windy. Staidin the house & store some. Went to the saw mill & we(father & I) rolled in Jos short logs 2 or 3 hs. Lookedover my papers some & c & c. Jos has been to Boston.

SUNDAY 16

Very stormy, rain, hail & snow. Cool. Staid at home allday. Rev. John Deering preached but there was but veryfew at meeting. Father has been sick to day, so he hasnt been out.

MONDAY, MARCH 17, 1862

Snowed in morn, than cleared off , very pleasant butclouded up & squally in P.M., thawy. Went up in thewoods with the horse & draw home 5 load of wood.Drawed 2 logs to mill. Cut & sawed of a white oak log.Drawed 6 sleepers down & c. Father helped.

TUESDAY 18

Very pleasant & warm. Drawed 1 oak log to mill with thehorse & slead & got it sawed & brought it home & theother 2 that were there. Trimed out the oak & drawed thewood home (1 load) Father helped. Cut some wood at thedoor & c.

WEDNESDAY 19

Very pleasant & warm & windy. Choped wood in thewoods back of old barn with father in A.M. & this P.M.cut a little at the door & E. & I went with the horse &sleigh making calls at Mrs. O. Adamses, Mr. O. Waleses,Hermons & Mr. Moses & this eve, went to MahlonDanielses to a candy party.

THURSDAY, MARCH 20, 1862

Very pleasant & warm. Father & I went all around in theRockwood lot to see it & where to chop there. Carriedsome small wood into the wood house & cut it. Wewent into the woods & choped a while.

FRIDAY 21

Stormy most all day, hail & rain. Cold storm. Carriedsome wood into the wood house & sawed & split it. Putup 2 bushls corn & carried to mill to Frosts & got itground & got some shavings & this P.M. cleared out theferther building.

SATURDAY 22

Stormy most of the day. Finished clearing up the further  building. Split little wood. Fixed some in the horse barn& in the old barn & c &c. Jos went to mill & about poverty __?__.

Cloudy & stormed (rain) some. Went to meeting all daywith the horse & wagon. Rev. John Deering preached.Was no meeting in the eve.

Pleasant & warm. Sawed wood at the door some. Put in anew tub in the cow yard & fixed it for the water comes into it. At store some & c & c. Father, mother & Amandawent to Franklin after a bonnet. Jos has been away.

Cloudy most of the day & warm. Raked up the oldweeds & c in the garden. Worked digging a ditch frontof old barn. Helped load a load of hay for Joseph. Beenat store some & c. Father went to mill to poverty lain &he has drawed 2 load of the old wood home to day.

Was a very hard thunder shower last night about 2 ½o’clock. Cloudy in the morn but cleared off about 9 ½ or 10 A.M. but had a sprinkle from a shower about 5 ½P.M. Churned & c & c About 10 A.M. Father & I went to

Very pleasant & warm. Churned. Pulled the beans in thegarden. Went to Woonsocket with a load of oat straw.Sold for 10. pr. ton, had 870 lbs, got some boots, cloth,sugar & c & c.

Very pleasant most of the day & cool but clouded uptoward night & had a little sprinkle from a shower. DeaPond worked here. We commenced digging a ditch in

corner piece, front of old barn. Dug most all day, about11 or 12 rod.

Very pleasant A.M. & cold. Clouded up in P.M. Went upto Hermons & cut bolts & nuts & c for him 4 hs - in A.M.& in P.M. helped father about shoeing the horse. Newsharped shoes all around & got the slead out & finished

cutting up the old apple tree & drawed it up for me.Sears gone to the sing to night.

Very pleasant & cool. Jos & I went to Mr. Phersons &sawed & split his wood for him. Pitched up his husks &c in A.M. 3 hs. (Jos Caught 7 rats in one trap last night)went up to the other house & got some corn & father &Mr. Richardson went to Woonsocket this P.M. & I

worked for Hermon 3 ½ hs.

THURSDAY 11

Very pleasant & warm. Thawy. Went up to Hermons &helped him make some irons for the reach & turn 9shoes & c & c 2 ¾ hs. Father & I fixed a new Scuttle inhorse barn & parted off a nest for the pigs on the platform under & c. Jos has been to Boston

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12, 1862

Very pleasant , warm, thawy. Went up to Jos house & put up a little corn & father went to Frosts mill & to Mr.Pikes & got a corn sheller. I sawed & cut wood, theapple tree __?__ my wood house. Went to Mr. Haweses& got his sausage cutter & filler. Abbie & Emeline wentto Aunt Pattys, she was sick. Carried Mrs. Wm. Adamshome & went to see Mr. Hifferd for Hermon. Called atJef Darlmes saw & cider mill. (went with the sleigh)Went to Mr. Pikes & got some beef to put in thesausage. Cut the sausage meet this eve & c.

Cloudy & foggy most of the day. Stormed some. Warm,the sun shined a while in P.M. Went to meeting all day.

Rev. Mr. Cole from Sheldonville preached. Is no meetingto night. Jos & Abbie started to go to Ashland. Went asfar as Medway & gave it up account of __?__.

MONDAY, DECEMBER 15, 1862

Very pleasant & very warm. Helped about the washingsome. Fixed a box to the hay cutter. Fixed clothes dryer.Fixed or put rod through the sleigh. Helped father make a bull hook & other chores & c. Jos drawed 3 load of woodto Rev. J. R. Deering with the horse & c & c.

TUESDAY 16

Very windy & cloudy & rained some, cleared off thisP.M. Wheeled up some old wood & c from old barn.Cleared up the old shop. Cut up the wood & c in there.Wheeled the dirt & chip stuff into the hog pen & c & c.

WEDNESDAY 17

Very pleasant & cool. Chored about some. Trimed outsome wood side the R.R. We (father & I) got 2 largehorse loads of wood (old wood) from the woods. Cut up

some. Lois A. Adams went from here this morn &Emeline is alone now. Jos carried Abbie to the sewingcircle at P. B. Clarks & has gone after her this eve withthe horse.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18, 1862

Very pleasant & cold. Cut wood at the door 1 load & gotit in to my wood house & on loaded a load into fatherswood house. Went up & helped put up some corn &Father & Dea Pond went to Woonsocket. Chored abouthouse some & c. Fred Newell here to Dinner. Dr. calledhere.

FRIDAY 19

Pleasant & cool & windy. Helped Emeline some aboutwashing. Sawed & got in some wood. We, father & I,went into the woods & got a load of old wood. Drawedup some old stuff from side of R.R. Father carried Mrs.Wm Adams home this eve & Jos carried Susan __?__.

SATURDAY 200 zero

Pleasant but very cold & windy, 7 above zero at 12 ½o’clock P.M. Cut wood most of the day at door & inwood house. Chored about house some & c. Jos carried N. Haweses sausage machine home with the horse &drawed a load of wood into the shop. I settled with Mr.Moses.

Very pleasant & very cold. Went to meeting in A.M. &

staid at home in P.M. & went after the folks with thehorse & stoped till after the concert. Rev. J. R. Deering preached. Father carried the folks to meeting in the morn.

MONDAY 2214 above zero

Snowed some in the morn & cloudy most all day & cold.Fixed for Lewis Chilson, came & killed the heifer. Wehelped some about it & have got it in to the cellar. Itweighed 462 lbs., hide weighed 57 lbs.

TUESDAY 2331 above zero

Cloudy most all day & thawed some. Father went toWoonsocket & carried a quarter of beef to Mr. Sargent,87 lbs. I sawed & split wood at the door some. In housesome. Went & cut 3 hoop poles & helped dig some tiver twig & c & c.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 24, 1862

Very pleasant & cool. Helped Emeline some about thewashing. Went to Jos Clarks & carried their syraingehome & some ointment. We set some hoops on the beef casks, washed & scaled them & c & c. I went after theDr. Nolan for Frankie (Jos boy) Father & Dea Pondworked in the woods most of the day. Cut the beef out

this eve.

THURSDAY 25

Cloudy all day & warm, thawed some. Salted the beef.Drawed 5 load of green wood of fathers, 2 of walnut toRev. J. R. Deering & 1 ½ load of oak by the R. R. & 1½ to door of small chestnut. At noon, went after Dr.Warren Metcalf to pull a tooth for Emeline but he wasgone. Got in a little wood. Went after Dr. Nolan for Frankie this eve.

FRIDAY 26

Stormy part & cloudy most all day & very warm.Chored about house some. Coppied off some of my oldaccts & c. Worked for Hermon 3 hours turning shoes,splitting steel & c & c. Cut apples & pie meat & c ineve & set up with Frankie till ½ past 2 o’clock. He isvery sick.

Pleasant & very warm but clouded up toward night.Chored about home some. In house some. Coping off accts. Went after Aunt Patty but did’nt get her. CarriedEmeline & the baby to Capt Deans & called at Rev. J. R.Deerings. The first time the baby been out. In store some.Jos been to Boston.

Cloudy most all day & chilly but thawed some. Mother &I went to Franklin to the afternoon meeting. Went about10 A.M. so to get there to Comunion. Rev. S. Hunt preached the yearly discourse.

MONDAY 29

Very pleasant & warm. Fixed my clothes dryer & helpedEmeline about the washing some. Helped grind the billhook & axe & hatchet. Cut some birch & c side of racemeadow & trimed out some stuff side of the R.R.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 30, 1862

Cloudy most of the day & warm, thawy, very pleasant inmorn. Trimed out side the R.R. & drawed it up , 1 load.Went to Mr. Frosts & got a load of shavings. HelpedFather get some wood for Mrs. Harding & Mrs. Pherson.Cut up some wood than drawed & got it in.

WEDNESDAY 31

Driving snow storm all day, commenced snowing lasteve, has blowed the snow into barn. Sawed & splitsome wood in the wood house. Brought up my meat(stake) & cutup part of it & fixed it & c & c. Choredabout house some. The cars freight stoped here & got

water for the engine with the hoes.

Cloudy all day & stormed some, warm. Got in somewood. Cut a little, carried Rev. J. R. Deerings apples, 2 bbls down to him. Cut out my half of the hog & c & c.Abbie gone to Ashland with Mrs. O. Adams.

Cloudy & stormy most all day & warm. Have been atwork on the meat cleaning, the barrel & salting the pork,clearing up in barn & c & c. I staid with Jos. last night.

SATURDAY 22

Very stormy most all day & began to snow about 9o’clock this eve. Went to Mr. Stockbridges & got Mr.Haweses sausage cutter & have cut our sausage meat inA.M. & in P.M. went to Milford with a load of (14 bushls) of potatoes. Fathers stoped at Mrs. O. Adams & brought Lois A. Adams home with me to work.

SUNDAY 23

Pleasant but windy & cold. Carried Mrs. Wilson home inmorn (to Franklin) Went to meeting in A.M. Rev. J. R.Deering preached. Staid at home this P.M. & eve. Loiswent. Emeline & the boy are getting along quite smart.
