--- Naked instead of in his alleged wonder clo-

thes the emperor stood before his subjects,

who – just as he had – applauded the swindle

of two deceitful tailors. The moral of the story

of “The Emperor’s New Clothes“ has lost none

of its topicality and strength. To question de-

velopments critically rather than accept them

blindly, and not fall for every trend – is a phi-

losophy also shared by Paul Harvey und Ales-

sandro Pungetti.

The two designers previously worked at Stone

Island and C.P. Company among others for

many years, are considered perfectionists and

true product fans. Reduction to the essential,

unconditional aspiration to functionality and

know how define their style – all these are va-

lues that now make up the corner stones of

their brand-new own label. It’s not without re-

ason that it bears the name Ten C (from „The

Emperor’s New Clothes“) and abandons bold

branding as well as over the top marketing

strategies.

The collection consisting exclusively of jackets

is setting an example against fast moving trends

and the throwaway mentality of the Fashion in-

dustry. Ten C focusses on aficionados who let

hype pass them by without being impressed, and

value craftmanship and individuality. “With Ten

C and our idea of menswear we are concentrating

on sustainability and have consciously chosen

to produce in Italy. You don’t just throw things

away anymore. Our products age with their we-

arers, acquire a personal note and become more

beautiful over time”, explains Paul Harvey. ‹‹‹

--- Nackt anstatt in vermeintlichen Wunderklei-

dern stand der Kaiser vor seinen Untertanen, die –

wie er selbst – den Schwindel zweier betrügerischer

Schneider beklatschten. Die Moral des Märchens

von „Des Kaisers neue Kleider“ hat nichts an Aktu-

alität und Stärke verloren. Entwicklungen kritisch

zu hinterfragen, statt sie blind zu akzeptieren und

nicht jedem Trend zu verfallen – diese Philosophie

teilen auch Paul Harvey und Alessandro Pungetti.

Die beiden Designer, die unter anderem viele Jahre

bei Stone Island und C.P. Company arbeiteten,

gelten als Perfektionisten und wahre Produkt-

fans. Reduktion auf das Wesentliche, unbedingter

Funktionalitätsanspruch und Knowhow definieren

ihren Stil – allesamt Werte, die nun die Eckpfeiler

ihres brandneuen, eigenen Labels bilden. Nicht

von ungefähr trägt es den Namen Ten C (von „The

Emperor’s New Clothes“) und verzichtet sowohl

auf plakatives Branding als auch auf übertriebene

Marketingaktivitäten.

Die ausschließlich aus Jacken bestehende Kolle-

ktion setzt ein Zeichen gegen schnelllebige Trends

und die fortschreitende Wegwerfmentalität der

Mo deindustrie. Ten C richtet sich an Liebhaber, die

Hypes unbeeindruckt an sich vorbeiziehen lassen

und Konstanz schätzen. „Wir setzen mit Ten C und

unserer Idee von Menswear auf Nachhaltigkeit

und haben uns ganz bewusst für die Produktion

in Italien entschieden. Man wirft Dinge nicht mehr

ein fach weg. Unsere Produkte altern mit ihren

Trägern, erhalten eine persönliche Note und wer-

den über die Jahre immer schöner“, erklärt Paul

Harvey. ‹‹‹

--- The designs of menswear classics such as the

parka, field jacket or anorak have been carefully

thought through once more and been optimised

by fine changes and smart details. The main eye

catcher of Ten C’s collection however, continues to

lie in the innovative material and its processing.

Developed with specialists in Japan the Ten C

design duo hase created an extremely dense

Jersey fabric made of a Polyester-Nylon mix.

In Italy this durable material receives a special

treatment resulting in its unmistakable look

and its soft, almost placid texture. In the next

step the fabric is garment dyed in a hot dye

bath at 140 degrees, the pigments sink deep

into the fibre – the colour tone appears espe-

cially intense.

The particular highlight of the jackets: the ma-

terial receives a beautiful patina over the ye-

ars, the surface becomes shinier, the feel sof-

ter or as the Ten C creators put it: “It becomes

clear: this is Your jacket!” ‹‹‹

--- Die Designs von Menswear-Klassikern wie Par-

ka, Field Jacket oder Anorak wurden noch einmal

sorgfältig durchdacht und durch feine Änderun-

gen und smarte Details optimiert. Das Hauptau-

genmerk der Ten C Kollektion liegt jedoch auf dem

innovativen Material und dessen Verarbeitung.

Gemeinsam mit Spezialisten in Japan entwickelte

das Ten C-Designer-Duo ein extrem dichtes Jersey-

Gewebe aus einer Polyester-Nylon-Mischung. Die-

ser haltbare Stoff erhält in Italien eine spezielle

Behandlung und damit seinen unvergleichlichen

Look und eine softe, fast samtene Anmutung. Im

nächsten Schritt wird das Gewebe in einem 140

Grad heißen Färbebad veredelt, die Pigmente drin-

gen dadurch tief in die Faser ein – der Farbton er-

scheint besonders intensiv.

Der besondere Clou der Jacken: Das Material er-

hält im Laufe der Jahre eine schöne Patina, die

Oberfläche wird glänzender, der Griff weicher oder

wie die Ten C-Macher es ausdrücken: „It becomes

clear: this is Your jacket!“ ‹‹‹

--- The sporty design direction as well as the

many casual processing details lend the Ano-

rak a dynamic touch. Next to casual side po-

ckets and a discreet zipper the hood is the eye

catcher. Thanks to the drawstring it is variably

adjustable, further protection is provided by a

wide storm latch. A big pocket at the back with

a hidden access on the side provides ample sto-

wing space. Another drawstring in the waist

area makes an optimal fit. ‹‹‹

--- Die sportive Schnittführung als auch die vielen

lässigen Verarbeitungsdetails verleihen dem Ano-

rak einen dynamischen Touch. Neben lässigen Ein-

schubtaschen und dezentem Zipper ist die Kapuze

der Blickfang. Dank Tunnelzug ist sie variabel ver-

stellbar, zusätzlichen Schutz bietet der Kragenver-

schluss durch einen breiten Sturmriegel. Eine große

Rückentasche mit verdeckt platziertem Zugang an

der Taille bietet zusätzlichen Stauraum. Ein weiterer

Tunnelzug im Hüftbereich sorgt für optimalen Sitz. ‹‹‹

from extras such as buttons in the neck area,

the belt as well as a material covered slit in the

Armspangen, geknöpften Seitentaschen und

cult item – the military origin revealing itself

in many practical details: Velcro fasteners on

sleeves regulate the width; an extension can be

flexibly folded over the back of the hand. Two

fitted front pockets as well as two further slide

pockets provide for ample stowage. A hood can

be found in the collar, drawstrings around the

waist and at the cuffs accommodate the jacket

for individual measurements and needs. ‹‹‹

ell – seine Militärherkunft offenbart sich in vielen
