COACHING STAFFHead Coach,Ken WhisenhuntPro Career: Became an NFL head coachfor the first time when hired by Arizona onJanuary 14, 2007. In five seasons he hasposted 44 victories, the most of any headcoach in franchise history. The Cardinalshave posted a record of .500 or better infour of his five seasons. He has ledArizona to a 7-2 overtime record includingan NFL record of 4-0 mark in home over-time games in 2011. His 4-2 career post-season record is among the league lead-ers in winning percentage. Led theCardinals to NFC West titles in 2008 and2009, the team’s first back-to-back divi-sion crowns since 1974-75. Arizona’s 8-8 mark in his first season of 2007 wasthe team’s best record since going 9-7 in1998. The 2008 season brought the fran-chise’s first postseason appearance since1998, first division crown since 1975, andfirst home playoff game since 1947. Itended with the team’s first-ever confer-ence title and Super Bowl appearance.Arizona’s 12 total wins in 2008 were themost in team history. In 2009, led Cardsto 10 regular season wins for first timesince 1976 and posted 6 road victories,the franchise’s most since 1963. Prior tojoining the Cardinals, Whisenhunt spentthe previous six seasons as an assistantwith the Pittsburgh Steelers, the first threeas tight ends coach and the last three asoffensive coordinator. Whisenhuntbecame offensive coordinator in 2004,the same year the team drafted quarter-back Ben Roethlisberger, who went on toset an NFL record with wins in his first 13career starts en route to Offensive Rookieof the Year honors. The next season hebecame the youngest quarterback in NFLhistory to win a Super Bowl and finishedthird in the league in passer rating (98.6).In Whisenhunt’s first year as coordinator,the Steelers rushing attack improved fromthirty-first to second. His second yearended with an NFL title after the Steelersoffense averaged 26.8 points per game inthe playoffs. He joined the Steelers inJanuary of 2001 as tight ends coach.Whisenhunt previously coached at the prolevel with the New York Jets (tight ends,2000), Cleveland Browns (special teams,1999) and Baltimore Ravens (tight ends,1997-98).
