kDES SftK[7S ... And the fans have found

the re-formed New Seekers better than the old band

HAVE YOU ever thought of Inviting the New Seekers to a party? No? Well, you should give it serious consideration. They don't smoke (no holes In the front room carpet to explain away to mum) and they only drink the occasional glass of wine (cheap). They're quiet, clean living and wouldn't annoy the neighbours. The only drawbacks

would be (a) they're playing somewhere ev- ery night and (b) you might attract a large crowd.

Since the New Seekers re-formed, they've been pulling In the audiences like they've never been away. However, they aren't taking any chances on a full scale tour until they are absolutely certain they will sell out every night.

Sales of their new single 'It's So Nice To Have You Home' will give them a fair Idea of their strength.

We're really knocked out It's doing co well," said Marty Krletlan, "But as far as we're concerned, tt cold enough two weeks a go lo go into the charts. It's sold over 50,000 copies and In Australia It would have been gold by now."

Marty pule part of the reason down to the big stores not making chart returns.

First "I don't know much

about it," said Marty, "but I expect the larger stores don't have the time to make Chart returns. But I don't know If it's a fair indication of the chart positions. However, at least we've made the charts with our first record."

There must have been a few nallbiting weeks w hen the record came out - Just in case the new look lard couldn't pick up where the last (very succeeaful) one left off. ' "Well It's only taken three months with the new bard and It took the other one two and a half years to get a chart record," pointed out Marty. "We expected it to be hard. The audiences we've been getting have been coming along with their ears wide open to see what we are like. Yeve

I been getting a fantastic reaction

"We've had so many comments saying we're better than the old band I've been with the group since the outset and I've never seen a better line-up- There is a lot of energy, a spark, making things hap- pen.

Was It the fault of outside Influences that split up the band!

"There were a lot of reason. for breaking up. Living at that pace l for five years left

NEW SEEKERS: pulling everyone ohnusted. And some people want. rd to do solo things. It was natural But the solo careers could have been done within,. the group, Like Rory Music, or Roger Daltrey doing solo records while sUll with the Who. There was no question of the Who breaking up. and really 1 summer. we didn't have to.

"But when we w elghed up the situation

in the audiences at the time, we decided It was fthlahed ire Ural era We hung up raer baste "

The Midland explores some alternatives to

opening a bank account. 4. The Mattress u

The Deposit Account This is a convenient place to stuff all your spare

money Unfortunately you may have to spend most of your time lying on it in case somebody else takes the money and puts it under their mattress.

The Deposit Account is an even more convenient place to stuff all your money. I sere it

earns more money for you, to help you pay for holidays, dothes, or anything else you choose to spend it on. A new mattress, perhaps!

This is one of a whole series of alternatives -look out for the others.

Meantime, if you already agree that an account with the Midland could

simplify your life, just walk into the most convenient branch and ask for

more information. It will cost you nothing and could well be the shrewdest

move you ever make.
