Being responsible is our foundation. We know that we have a
responsibility towards the people who are Grundfos, towards the
innovative soul of Grundfos as well as towards the surrounding
world. Whatever we do, we make sure that we have a firm and
sustainable basis for doing it.
Thinking ahead makes the innovations possible. We encourage a
certain Grundfos way of thinking which is founded upon the belief
that everyone must contribute by using his or her judgement and
foresight. We are looking for commitment and ideas in everything
we do in order to make the best solutions. We think – and then we act.
Innovation is the essence. It is the innovations that make Grundfos
unique. We stand out because of our ability to constantly create new
solutions to the ever-changing demands of the pump business.
We meet every challenge and we are never afraid of taking the
initiative – remaining true to our ideals calls for renewal. Innovation
is the soul of Grundfos.

materials and surface finishAll pumps within the Grundfos sanitary range have been designed to meet the hygienic design criteria. The material we use is AISI (1.4404/1.4435)stainless steel, which is either cold-rolled and/or forged. This ensures ahomogeneous pore-free surface as opposed to cast material. Whererequired, fully drainable models are available (see examples below).
Grundfos sanitary range is the result of more than 130 years of supplyinginnovative pumps with a hygienic design to the sanitary industry. All ourpumps match a series of national and international design standards, guidelines and regulations relating to materials as well as surface finishesof materials used.
Adding excellenceto hygienic design
Pumps for use in the sanitary industry all have one thing in common: They’re subject to strict standards. That’s why we push technology to thelimit in every way possible to achieve outstanding quality with regard tomaterials, surface finish and performance.
shaft seals and connectionsDepending on the actual application and pumped media, single or doublemechanical shaft seals are available to secure trouble-free operation. Thedouble shaft seals can be supplied as “tandem” or “back-to-back” versions. The single mechanical shaft seals applied are inboard seals mounted in anoptimum position in the product flow to ensure lubrication, cooling as wellas CIP and SIP capability. Standard materials are carbon/stainless steel andEPDM – other materials are available on request.
A variety of connection options are available, such as SMS, RIT, DIN, ISO,and TRIClover. Special sterile threaded fittings and flanges can be suppliedon request.

Even though the sanitary industries have many aspects in common, such as the need for pumps that are specifically designed for their industrythere are still various areas that call for individual attention. Applicationrequirements can vary a great deal from company to company. E.g. dairies need pumps that handle liquids gently – if pumped too hard the fat molecules will break and the finished product will be damaged. The pharmaceutical industry requires pumps that are designed to pumpliquids that have to stay 100% sterile during production – e.g. WFI.
Grundfos offers a wide range of pumps that can be applied in severalsanitary processes, such as mixing, distillation and cleaning. Our mainaim is to provide pumps and pump solutions that can handle mostprocesses within production of food, beverage and pharmaceuticals.

Grundfos is more than just pump
solutions. It’s over 50 years of accu-
mulated expertise and technological
insight. We’re your sparring partner in
all matters concerning plant service
systems and industrial processing.
Grundfos has often pioneered pump
technology and manufacturing
techniques that have been adopted
by various other pump manufacturers
further down the line. At Grundfos,
the pumps of tomorrow are planned
for today.
We’re constantly striving to make
our pumps more user-friendly, reliable
and energy-saving. This is to ensure
that the environment as well as
our customers benefit from our
improvements. Grundfos pumps
are manufactured according to strict
standards. For years now, we’ve
experienced a growing demand for
pumps that are electronically
controlled. As a result of this
demand, Grundfos now offers a wide
range of E-pumps (electronically
controlled pumps) to our customers.
This enables the user to adjust the
performance so that it fits with a
specific demand. This not only
provides convenience for the user
– it saves a great deal of energy, too.
So when you are working with
Grundfos you get more than just
a pump.
adding know-how to your industry
H. Lundbeck A/S of Copenhagen, Denmark, is a market-leading pharmaceuticalcompany focusing entirely on finding new and effective therapies for centralnervous system (CNS) disorders. High focus is on hygiene in laboratoriesand production plants at Lundbeck.
Every day research scientists use hundreds of test tubes, pipettes and otherlaboratory equipment, which are sterilised over and over again with watersupplied by Grundfos sanitary pumps. Likewise, the sanitary pumps satisfythe continuous demand for ample quantities of ultra pure water in the various stages of the production processes.
Grundfos sanitary pumps have contributed to efficient water purification at Lundbeck for some years now. Lundbeck appreciates their hygienic design, high reliability and flexible installation. They work in perfect unison in thepurification processes, providing trouble-free operation and non-stopproduction of ultra pure water.
“Grundfos has been a trusted supplier of Lundbeck for many years, and we highly welcome the implementation of Grundfos sanitary pumpsin our laboratories and production plants.”
