11 DISYEMBRE 2016 IKA-3 LINGGO NG ADBIYENTO - A ROSAS
LINGGO NG ADBIYENTO - A (Isaias 35:1-6.10; Santiago 5:7-10;
Mateo 11:2-11)
Ni: Msgr. Nestor C. Cerbo
PAKSA: MAGING TAGAPAGDALA NG
KAGALAKAN SA LAHAT LALO NA SA
MGA KAPUS-PALAD
Tayo ngayon ay nasa Ikatlong Linggo
ng Adbiyento. Ito rin ay tinaguriang
Gaudete Sunday. Kung isasalin natin
sa Pilipino, ang Gaudete Sunday ay
nangangahulugang “Linggo ng
Kagalakan.”
-2-
Kaya ngayon ay ating sinindihan ang
kandilang kulay rosas sa ating
“Advent Wreath.” Ang kulay rosas ay
simbolo ng kagalakan.
Bakit ba tinagurian ang Ikatlong
Linggo ng Adbiyento na “Linggo ng
Kagalakan?” Dahil nalalapit na ang
ating pagdiriwang ng pasko kung
kailan ating ginugunita ang Unang
Pagdating ng Panginoon bilang
Mesiyas o Tagapagligtas. Tama
lamang na tayo ay magalak dahil
ang Unang Pagdating ay nagdala ng
kagalakan sa lahat ng nilikha, lalung-
lalo na sa sangkatauhan. Ito ay
maliwanag sa Unang Pagbasa at sa
Ebanghelyo. Sa Unang Pagbasa mula
sa Aklat ni Propeta Isaias, ang
bayang Israel na nagdurusa ay
magagalak sa kanilang pagbabalik
mula sa kanilang pagkatapon sa
Babilonia. Ito rin ang mangyayari sa
pagdating ng Mesiyas o
Tagapagligtas. Ito ang sinasabi sa
Unang Pagbasa: “Ang ulilang lupaing
malaon nang tigang ay muling
sasaya. Ang dating ilang ay await sa
tuwa.” “Lungkot at dalamhati ay
mapapalitan ng tuwa at galak
magpakailanman.” Sa Ebanghelyo,
ating natunghayan na si Juan
Bautista ay nag-alinlangan kung si
Hesus nga ang darating na Mesiyas.
Para kay Juan, ang Mesiyas ay isang
hukom na maghahatol ng
kaparusahan sa mga makasalanang
di nagsisi. Sa ganitong pag-iisip ay
masyadong advanced si Juan
Bautista. Totoo na darating na
Mesiyas bilang Hukom subalit ito ay
magaganap pa sa huling araw o sa
katapusan ng panahon. Subalit sa
unang pagparito ng Mesiyas, siya ay
maghahatid ng kagalakan sa lahat
lalung- lalo na sa mga kapus-palad.
Kaya noong nagsugo si Juan Bautista
ng kanyang mga alagad at
ipinatanong kay Hesus, “Kayo po ba
ang ipinangakong paparito o
maghihintay pa kami ng iba?
1) Ano ang sagot ni Hesus?
2) Ito ang sagot ni Hesus: “Bumalik
kayo kay Juan Bautista at sabihin sa
kanya ang inyong narinig at nakita:
nakakikita ang mga bulag,
nakalalakad ang mga pilay,
gumagaling ang mga ketongin,
nakaririnig ang mga bingi, muling
nabubuhay ang mga patay.
Mapalad ang taong hindi nag-
aalinlangan sa akin!” Hindi tayo
dapat mag-alinlangan na si Hesus
nga ang Mesiyas na darating dahil
siya ang katuparan ng hula ni
Propeta Isaias. Ayon sa hula ni
-3-
Propeta Isaias, sa pagdating ng
Mesiyas, ang mga bulag ay
makakikita, at makaririnig ang mga
bingi, ang pilay ay lulundag, await sa
galak ang mga pipi. Sa madaling
salita, ang pagdating ng Mesiyas ay
magdudulot ng kagalakan sa lahat,
lalung- lalo na sa mga kapus-palad.
Ang kagalakan na dala ng
pagdating ni Hesus ay dapat
ipagpatuloy nating mga alagad niya.
Ito ay nangangahulugan na tayo rin
ay dapat magdala ng kagalakan sa
lahat, lalung lalo na sa mga kapus-
palad.
Sabi ni Apostol Santiago sa
Ikalawang Pagbasa, magtiyaga tayo
hanggang sa pagdating ng
Panginoon. Sa alin tayo magtitiyaga?
Magtitiyaga tayo sa pagdala ng
kagalakan sa lahat, lalung lalo na sa
mga kapus-palad at ang Panginoon
ay magdadala rin ng kagalakan sa
atin sa kanyang muling pagdating.
MGA TANONG PARA SA BAHAGINAN:
Alin sa mga pagdadala ko ng
kagalakan sa lahat, lalo na sa mga
kapus-palad, ang hindi ko
makakalimutan?
Anu-ano pa ang gagawin ko para
makapagbibigay ng kagalakan sa
iba?

DECEMBER 03, 2016 – KUMPILAN SA
SJBP
Disyembre 3, 2016 sa ganap na 8:00
ng umaga ay dinaos ang Kumpilan
sa ating parokya. Si Rev. Msgr.
Esteban “Bong” Lo ang Vicar Forane
ng St. John the Baptist ang namuno
sa banal na pagdiriwang.
May kabuuang bilang na 60 ang
mga kinumpilan, 32 ang babae at 28
ang lalaki. Karamihan sa mga
kinumpilan ay mga mag-aaral ng
Grade 6 at High School ng
pampublikong paaralan na
nasasakupan ng ating parokya.
Sa homiliya ni Msgr. Bong Lo, mariin
niyang pinarating sa mga kinumpilan
ang mensahe na ang ibig sabihin ng
Kristo ay “the anointed one” o “ang
pinahiran”. Ipinaliwanag niyang
mabuti sa mga kinumpilan na si Jesus
ang pinahiran, ang pinili, ang
pinakamamahal, at kaya sila
magpapakumpil ay dahil sila ay
Kristyano – sila ay Kristyano dahil kay
Kristo Hesus.
Dahil kay Kristo, sa pamamagitan
Niya at kasama Niya, ikaw at ako ay
Kristyano, ikaw at ako ay pinili, ikaw
-6-
at ako ay minamahal, ikaw at ako ay
pinahiran. Pinaalalahanang mabuti ni
Msgr. Bong Lo ang lahat na manatili
kay Kristo at tugunan ang kanyang
kabutihan ng mas higit pang
kabutihan, magmahal gaya ng
pagmamahal ni Kristo kasi di tayo
mura, tayo ay “Mahal”…mahal na
mahal ng Diyos! Ang pinangtubos sa
ating lahat ay ang pinakamamahal
na buhay ng ating Panginoong
Hesus.
Ang kumpilan po sa ating parokya
ay dinaraos dalawang beses kada
taon. Ang susunod po na kumpilan
ay gaganapin sa Hunyo 2017.

HOUSE FORMATION ON “MUSIC IN THE
LITURGY”
As one of our activities for spiritual
growth and technical development,
the Ministry on Liturgical Music (MLM)
had another formation seminar on
Liturgical Music last December 3,
2016 at the Formation Center, from
8:00 AM to 12:00 NN.
The formation was facilitated by Mr.
Ferdinand Bautista, a composer of
Liturgical Music.
He gave several pointers on how to
be a good choir. To name a few he
mentioned: to be dressed in proper
attire; to ensure that line up of songs
conforms with the liturgical
celebration and must be appropriate
to the different parts of the Mass; and
to remember that our singing should
not hinder in the active participation
of the congregation.
We were also provided with complete
set of new songs with chords for the
entire mass for our practice. He
-9-
willingly obliged to teach us two of his
new compositions for Christmas,
“Isang Pamaskong Panaginip” and
“Ang Batang Pastol.”
Indeed, it was a fruitful experience for
all of us. Thanks to our guest speaker,
Mr. Ferdinand Bautista for helping us
to be more knowledgeable and
updated with Liturgical Music. Thanks
also for the delicious snack provided
by our Parish.

FAMILY LIGHTS THE SECOND CANDLE
OF THE ADVENT WREATH
On December 3, 2016, the second
candle of the advent wreath was lit
during the 5:30 PM anticipated
Sunday mass. The presider was Rev.
Fr. Francis Salcedo.
The family who lit the candle
composed of Mr. Joey Valbuena with
his wife, Cherry, and their sons, Jed
and Gabriel. Fr. Francis said in his
homily that the second candle of the
advent wreath symbolizes peace. He
reminded us that peace is not merely
the absence of guns, soldiers and
bombs, but rather the peace should
be something that we constantly
keep in our hearts. Listening to St.
John the Baptist’s words, “Repent, for
the kingdom of heaven is at
hand,” we can attain peace in our
hearts if we straighten our paths to the
Lord, and ask for His forgiveness.

Ang iba ay nagnanais na doon muli
-10-
ganapin ang street mass sa susunod

Ang pagsisindi ng ikalawang ilaw ng
adbiyento sa pangunguna ni ate Tess
Sales ay nakadagdag ng kasiyahan
sa misa. Ipinaliwanag naman ni Fr.
Herbert na ang ikalawang Linggo ng
adbiyento ay nakatuon sa
pagbabago. Dagdag pa niya, ang
bawat isa ay tinatawagan na
pagkatapos ng pagsisisi ay
magkaroon naman ng pagbabago,
at iwasan ang pagkakasalang muli.
Nagpapasalamat kami sa mga
sponsor ng misang iyon na sina Tatay

sa Panginoon sa magandang

DECEMBER 04, 2016 - CHILDREN’S
CATECHESIS SA BEC SALAPAN
Muli na naman po naming isinagawa
ang Children’s Catechesis noong
December 4, 2016, unang Linggo ng
buwan, sa ganap na alas-4:30 ng
hapon, na pinangunahan ng ating
volunteer catechist na si Sis. Oding
Sabordino. Ito ay dinaluhan ng siyam
na mga bata at ginanap sa aming
chapel ng Our Lady of the
Assumption.
Itinalakay ni Sis. Oding ang tungkol
sa paghahanda sa pagdating ng
Panginoon ngayong panahon ng
adbiyento. Sinabi niya sa mga bata
na dapat silang magbago, at
tinanong sila isa-isa kung paano ang
gagawin nilang pagbabago sa
kanilang sariling buhay sa pang
araw-araw. Malugod namang
nakatugon ang mga bata sa
gawaing ito, at nakakatuwa na sa
kanilang mga murang isipan at edad
ay alam na nila ang tama at mali, at
ang mga aral na kailangan nilang
isabuhay.
Sa muli, maraming salamat kay Sis.
Oding sa makabuluhang
pagbabahagi ng ating
pananampalataya sa mga bata.
Magkita-kita po tayong muli sa
susunod na Children’s Catechesis sa
ating chape sa December 18, 2016,
ikatlong Linggo ng buwan.

DECEMBER 07, 2016 – BEC CORE
GROUP MEETING
The last BEC Core Group Meeting for
the year was held last December 7,
2016, 7:00 PM at the 2nd floor of the
Parish Formation Center. Sis. Grace
Ranjo, BSL of BEC San Perfecto led in
the prayers, while she was
accompanied by their BEC’s Tuesday
Cell Group.
The reflection for the 2nd Sunday of
Advent was given by Msgr. Nestor
Cerbo, who confessed that he was
not totally prepared for his reflection
due to the several commitments he
had during the day. Nevertheless, he
was filled with the grace of the Holy
Spirit, enabling him to present a
meaningful reflection on “giving joy,”
that went straight to the hearts of
each person in the room.
After the cheerful and heartfelt
sharings of Sis. Lucy and Sis. Catchy
Ligunas, discussion of the other
matters followed, focusing mainly on
the upcoming activities this
December 2016. Msgr. Nestor also
-16-
appealed to all BSLs and Heads to
encourage all their members to
attend the Advent Recollection
scheduled on December 10, 2016,
after the 5:30 PM mass.
Indeed, it has been a grace-filled
2016 for the BEC Core Group. We
thank the Lord for the gift of service,
friendship, and family that we were
able to build in the past years and will
continue to build in the years to
come. All praise and glory to God
who sustains us in our earthly mission!

CELEBRATES THE SOLEMNITY OF THE
IMMACULATE CONCEPTION
The Solemnity of the Immaculate
Conception of Mary, which is
celebrated annually on December 8,
is a Holy Day of Obligation. As such,
all Catholic faithful are obliged to go
to mass during this day, the feast of
the Principal Patroness of the
Philippines.
In order to assist our parishioners in
fulfilling the said obligation, we made
available an additional mass on the
said date, which is at 7:00 PM. This is
on top of the usual masses for the
day, which we have at 6:00 AM, 7:00
AM, and 6:00 PM. Likewise, the 5:15
PM and 6:15 PM evening mass last
December 7, 2016 were anticipated
masses in honor of the Immaculate
Conception. Thus, those who had
attended the anticipated masses had
also fulfilled the obligation.
In all the masses, the Act of
Consecration and Entrustment to the
Immaculate Conception was recited
after the Post Communion Prayer.
Let us continue to ask for the
intercession of Mary Immaculate for
the peace and protection in our
families, our country, and the whole
world.

Filipinos urged: ‘Oppose
death penalty’
MANILA, Dec. 8, 2016– Filipinos
need to unite against the reimposition
of capital punishment more urgently
than ever amid attempts to “railroad”
the passage of the death penalty bill,
a ranking Catholic archbishop said.
Archbishop Socrates Villegas of
Lingayen-Dagupan said it is a
“tragedy” that the proposed measure
is being pushed for approval in
Congress before Christmas.
“In resisting the threat of the
restoration of the death penalty, we
cannot be disunited or indifferent. On
this pro-life issue let us truly unite.
Come out and make a stand!” said
the prelate.
-19-
Voting 12-6-1, the bill restoring the
death penalty for all heinous crimes
hurdled the House justice committee
on Dec. 7.
House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez,
one of the co-authors of the bill, said
he is confident the measure will be
approved by the Lower House by
Christmas.
Railroad
Rodolfo Diamante, executive
secretary of the bishops’ Commission
on Prison Pastoral Care, said
lawmakers allied with the Duterte
administration are “trying to railroad”
the passage of the bill.
This was despite the fact, he said,
that during the committee hearings
the anti-death penalty advocates
presented pieces of evidence that the
death penalty is not a deterrent to
crime, is anti-poor, and violates
international agreements.
“The majority bloc Congressmen just
wants it passed, period. And they
want it fast as it is among the
campaign promises of the incumbent
President,” he said.
Diamante urged those who believe in
the sanctity of human life and the
dignity of every person to “stand up
and resist this railroad attempt to
pass this anti-life and anti-poor
measure.”
“Let us make a more forceful stand
against the death penalty,” he said.
“Now more than ever we need to act
fast and swiftly to counteract the
prevailing culture of death in our
society.’
Work together
Next week, the death penalty bill is
expected to be debated on second
reading.
Diamante called on the faithful to
show their opposition to capital
punishment and show support for
anti-death penalty lawmakers.
“Let us all work together to uphold
the sanctity of life! No to the death
penalty! Yes to justice that heals!” he
added.
In Pangasinan, Villegas also called
on the faithful to join a prayer rally at
the Parish of St. Dominic in San
Carlos City on Dec. 12.
“I am calling on the God-loving
people of the Archdiocese of
Lingayen – Dagupan to come
together in prayer to resist the treat of
the death penalty in our country. The
death penalty is contrary to our
Catholic moral life,” he said in a
circular that enjoined the faithful in
his archdiocese to hold a “Prayer
Rally for Life” on Dec. 12, 2016, the
Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

“This is a conscience call to stand up
for life,” said Villegas.

PRAYER AGAINST DEATH PENALTY ARCHDIOCESE OF MANILA
Father of compassion, You let your rain fall on the just and the unjust. Give us a heart like yours so that we may love as You love, even those who have caused us pain. There is in our land a cry for vengeance and a move to fill up death rows and kill offenders but disguised as a call for justice. Let true and lasting justice spring forth. Jesus, our brother, you suffered execution in the hands of the powerful but you did not let hatred overcome you. Help us to reach out to victims of violence so that our enduring love may help heal their wounds. Holy Spirit, Lord and Giver of Life You strengthen us in the struggle for justice. Help us to work tirelessly against state-
sanctioned death and to renew society in truth, justice, love and respect so that violence will cease and peace may prevail. Amen. O Mary, Mother of Life, protect the Filipino people from the forces of death. San Lorenzo Ruiz, pray for us. San Pedro Calungsod, pray for us.
