Memo To: Shari Weiss From: Erik Baldewein Date: 7/2/2015 Re: Ten things I learned this semester Today’s memo is addressing the ten topics that were most important from this semester. The following include topics from week one to the last week of class 1. Resume: During the semester we learned how to write a professional resume. This skill will be important throughout my life. 2. Cover letter: An item just as important as the resume. The cover letter states to the reader why they should hire you. 3. Website: Using a website to sell yourself can be essential to getting a job. A website about you lets you tell the reader information about you that you would not have time to say in the interview. 4. Group personations: Throughout the semester we learned to work with groups. This skill will be important in business because people need to know how to work together. 5. Leading a group: I can proudly say that I successfully lead a group with success during this semester. Leading the group taught me how structure work assignments and how they would get done. 6. LinkedIn: As a benefit from working with group one, we studied LinkedIn. It was an insightful project over the semester, by learning more about the social media website. 7. Lean In: The pleasure to read this book was very enjoyable. It taught me a lot of what to expect when entering the business world. 8. Writing a memo: One thing that I know I have learned very well is memos. Writing memos including this one are a skill that cannot be passed up in business. 9. Business letter: During the second half of the semester we learned how to write a business letter. This letter is important to know because it is only a matter of time of when you have to write one in the real world. 10. Business report: Being part of group one we did LinkedIn for our business report. The business report provided guidelines on how to right a formal report for a company. The ten topics listed today are the most important topics that I learned about this semester. There are many more topics that we learned in class, but these are the most important to me.
