Pupusa.A pupusa is a traditional Salvadoran dish made of a thick, handmade corn tortilla that is usually �lled with a blend of the following: cheese, chicharron(cooked pork meat ground to a paste consistency), refried beans, loroco, zucchini and other vegetables. Pupusas can also be made from rice �our and are typically served with curtido and salsa de tomate.

HistoryPupusas were �rst created centuries ago by the Pipil tribes who inhabited the territory now known as El Salvador. Cooking implements for their preparation have been excavated in Joya de Cerén, "El Salvador's Pompeii", site of a native village that was buried by ashes from a volcano explosion, and where foodstu�s were preserved as they were being cooked almost 2000 years ago. The instruments for their preparation have also been found in other archaeological sites in El Salvador.

In the late 1940s, pupusas were still not widespread across El Salvador, and were mostly localized in the central towns, such as Quezaltepeque, and cities of the country. As the population began migrating to other areas in the 1960s, pupusa stands proliferated across the country and in neighboring areas of Honduras and Guatemala, sometimes with variations in shape, size or �lling. In Guatemala during the 1970s, pupusas had a half-moon shape. The half-moon shape would be considered a half-eaten pupusa in the Chalatenango area; �sh pupusas were uncommon, and pupusas served east of the Lempa River usually had a much larger diameter.

In the 1980s, the Salvadoran civil war forced a Salvadoran migration to other countries, mainly the United States. Therefore, pupusas became available outside the country wherever a Salvadoran community was found. Immigrants have brought the dish to most areas of the United States. Pupusas are traditionally are traditionally eaten by hand.

Pupusa.Una pupusa es un tradicional plato Salvadoreño hecho a mano de una maza gruesa de tortilla de maíz, usualmente rellena de lo siguiente: queso, chicharrón, frejoles refritos, loroco, zapallo y otros vegetales. Las pupusas también se pueden hacer de harina de arroz y son típicamente servidas con un curtido y una salsa de tomate.

HistoriaLas pupusas fueron creadas hace siglos por las Tribu Pipil, quienes habitaron el territorio ahora conocido como El Salvador. Los implementos de cocina para su preparación han sido descavados en Joya de Cerén, “La Pompeya de El Salvador”, lugar de una villa nativa que fue enterrada por la explosión de un volcán. Y donde las cosas de comida fueron preservadas tal cual eran preparadas hace casi 2000 años. Los instrumentos de preparación fueron también encontrados en otros lugares arqueológicos de El Salvador.

A �nales de los años 1940, las pupusas no habían sido esparcidas por todo el Salvador, y eran localizadas en su mayoría en los pueblos centrales, como Quezaltepeque y otras ciudades del país. Conforme la población comenzó a migrar a otras áreas en los años 1960, las pupusas se expandieron proliferada mente por todo el País y por todas las áreas vecinas de Honduras y Guatemala, algunas veces con variaciones en formas, tamaños y rellenos. In Guatemala durante los años 1970, las pupusas tenían la forma de una media luna. Curtido.Is a type of lightly fermented cabbage slaw with red chilies and vinegar. It is typical in Salvadoran cuisine and that of other Central American countries, and is usually made with cabbage, onions, carrots. It is commonly served alongside pupusas, the national delicacy.

Salsa.Is a tomato sauce made with jalapenos peppers and spicies. It is served with curtido alongside pupusas.

Loroco.Fernaldia pandurata (common name: loroco) is a vine with edible �owers that grows in El Salvador, the eastern part of Guatemala, and other Central American countries. It is an important source of food in El Salvador and Guatemala. The plant's buds and �owers are used for cooking in a variety of ways, including in pupusas.

Marañon.The cashew tree is a tropical evergreen that produces the cashew nut and the cashew apple. O�cially classed as Anacardium occidentale, it can grow as high as 14 metres (46 ft), but the dwarf cashew, growing up to 6 metres (20 ft), has proved more pro�table, with earlier maturity and higher yields.

The cashew nut is served as a snack or used in recipes, like other nuts, although it is actually a seed. The cashew apple is a fruit, whose pulp can be processed into a sweet,astringent fruit drink or distilled into liqueur.

Horchata.The name derives from Catalan orxata, probably from ordiata, made from ordi (barley) (Latin *hordeata < hordeum). The Italian orzata, the French and English 'orgeat' and the Surinamese Dutch orgeade have the same origin, though the beverages themselves have diverged, and are generally no longer made from barley.

Horchata is the name of several kinds of traditional beverages, made of ground almonds, sesame seeds, rice, barley.

Tamarindo.Tamarindo is a drink typically served throughout Spanish America. It is made from tamarind (a legume: tamarindus indica) after it has been boiled in water, has had its seeds removed, and has been lique�ed and combined with sugar. It is typically sold in Mexico, and central and south American restaurants. It has gained popularity also in the United States and elsewhere. Tamarindo is also sold as a �avour of soda.

Curtido.Es un tipo de col ligeramente fermentada con ají rojo y vinagre. Es típico en la cocina Salvadoreña y para los otros países Centro Americanos, es usualmente hecho con col, cebollas, zanahoria. Es comúnmente servido junto con las pupusas.

Salsa.Es una salsa de tomate con jalapeños y especies. Es servido con el curtido junto con las pupusas.
