Courses taught in the English medium are available for the following faculties: Arts and Social Sciences, Engineering, Law and Science. Courses taught in the English medium are usually offered only at higher levels (3rd and 4th year courses). Lund University recommends that NUS students be at least in their third year during exchange (Architecture students need to be in their 4th year). For courses in English, please refer to - http://www.lu.se/lund-university/exchange-students/course-information-for-exchange-students. BIZ & FASS (Econs) have separate fac-level/dept-level SEP agreements too. FASS students from other depts can come under U-wide places.

Language of Instruction: Swedish/English. Students are not expected to take courses taught in the native language. They should find enough courses taught in English for their SEP requirements.

Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne

Language of Instruction: French/English Feedback from returning NUS students show that those have taken only 1 or 2 French language modules before SEP have managed to go to EPFL and cope well but it is strongly recommended that students learn a higher level of French if possible. Students with no French knowledge are advised not to apply to EPFL.

EPFL has a strong international ranking and excellent student services. It is located in Lausanne which is well-known for its beautiful natural scenery. EPFL is strong in Mathematics and Aerospace. It is recommended that NUS students should go there in Spring semester or full year. This is due to EPFL¿s rule which prohibits that an EPFL exam is organized outside of the EPFL and exchange students should not ask professors for personal examinations. A monthly scholarship of 500 Swiss Franc and free intensive French course are available (both are not guaranteed) for incoming students. Courses from Architecture are not open to NUS exchange students. For the courses from the Management of Technology College and from Financial engineering a special request has to be made to the exchange office. ETH Zurich SWITZERLAND Semester 2 Language of Instruction: German/English

ETH department of Architecture at ETH Zurich only accepts a maximum of 5 semester places from NUS per year. ETH Zurich reserves the right to reject NUS students that they feel will be unable to handle the rigours of the academic programmes at their institution. This arose from several cases where NUS students failed classes. In order to be accepted in the department of Mathematics (D-MATH) at ETH Zurich, a student must be enrolled for a degree in mathematics in his/her home university. No enrollment possible in the D-MTEC (department of Management, Technology and Economics and department of Social Sciences and Humanity (D-GESS), only as electives (max. 1/3 of courses). Please note that the department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE) is located in Basel, a city approximately 100 km away from Zurich, therefore the services of the Student Exchange Office might be slightly limited. Furthermore, Housing can only be provided in Zurich. ETH Zurich expects incoming exchange students to obtain a minimum of 20 ECTS (not including the language course/s), whereas the full workload for regular ETH students is 30 ECTS per semester. ETH Zurich has a departmental mobility advisor and students must discuss any change to their study plan with their advisor in the department, who may be able to help find replacement courses or the like and should in any case always be informed about any amendments. It also is very important that students stick to the two-thirds-in-one-department rule regarding courses, as the department the student has the majority of courses is the one to check his background, decide upon the acceptance and later be responsible for advising and academic counseling.

1) As exchange with UC is on U-wide system, all places allocated in OPAS as quarter: most UC campuses operate on quarter system. If students allocated to UC Berkeley or UC Merced, they will be on exchange for full semester: UCB and UCM operate on semester system; other 8 campuses for exchange work on quarter system. Students should be aware they may only be on exchange at UC for one quarter, depending on which campus UC allocate them to. It is up to students to find out if their module/credit requirements allow them to do an exchange to UC given they may be on the exchange for just one quarter. Spring as a starting term is only an option for semester campuses, that is UCB and UCM. Spring is not an option at the UC campuses that operate on a quarter system. Students are not allowed to go for more than one quarter if placed at a quarter system campus. Students cannot extend. 2) Placement is NOT GUARANTEED - students may be re-directed to other UC Campuses despite what they put on their application form. Students must submit study plans for 3 UC campuses together with UC application forms. There is a chance that if students are admitted to UC that they may be placed at a campus not on their application. Once allocation has been done by UC it is not possible to change the campus allocation. 3) In July 2014 UC advised: UC Majors The following engineering majors are closed and will not be available to reciprocity students in 2014 - 15: UCB Bioengineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Mathematics and Statistics, and Industrial Engineering and Operational Research UCLA Aerospace Engineering, Bioengineering, Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering The following majors are available now to reciprocity students: UCSC Community Studies UCR Law and Society (social science focus) A list of UC Undergraduate Majors and Undergraduate Impacted Majors is available at http://www.eap.ucop.edu/ReciprocalExchanges/Pages/Majors.aspx
