Pathway 1 – GCSEs

• Grades A*, A, B, C, D, E, F, G available• Will be ‘linear’• Will often have a controlled assessment element – this

may be written (eg History) or may be practical (eg D&T, Dance)

• Some ‘A’-Level courses require a GCSE in the same subject (eg French), others do not

• Seek advice (assemblies, teachers, family, friends).

• Read advice (Key Stage 4 Course Booklet, website ‘Curriculum’ pages).

• Think about the subjects you enjoy, your strengths and your interests.

• Think how you feel about the core activity of a subject.

How not to make your decisions..

• Don’t choose a subject because your friend does.

• Don’t choose or not choose a subject because you like (or dislike) a teacher.

• Don’t choose or not choose a subject just because of what your family or friends say about it.
