Ramón Goose “Uptown Blues”. Blues Boulevard 2011. Músico, guitarrista, cantante, productor y compositor de alto nivel. Ramón Goose apuesta fuerte con este nuevo disco de nos trae bajo el brazo, donde define con personalidad y buen criterio su vena más artística, siempre desde una vertiente bluesera, groovy, jazzy y ligeramente funk. Después de su reciente aventura con el proyecto titulado “The West African Blues” junto al senegalés Diabel Cissokho y también con su propio grupo los NuBlues, Ramón se consolida ahora en solitario con este trabajo lleno de vitalidad, energía y talento, desgranando doce temas que desprenden efluvios de músicos diversos y variados que van desde B.B. King a Duke Ellington, Taj Mahal, Charlie Christian, Robben Ford o Jimi Hendrix, a quien homenajea con su excelsa versión de “Little Wing”. Un disco bien trabajado, potente, rebosante de autoridad, lanzado directamente al estomago del oyente, que seguro lo digerirá sin necesidad de tomar una cucharada de bicarbonato. MUY BUENO. High level musician, guitarist, singer, producer and song-writer, Ramon Goose has strongly bet with this new album he brings us under his arm, where he shows his most artistic vein with good taste and personality, always from a bluesy, groovy, jazzy and slightly funk side. After his recent adventure with a project entitled "The West African Blues" together with the Senegalese musician Diabel Cissokho and with his own band The NuBlues, now Ramón consolidates himself as a soloist artist with this work full of vitality, energy and talent, that includes twelve songs which give the scent of various and varied musicians from B.B. King to Duke Ellington, Taj Mahal, Charlie Christian, Robben Ford or Jimi Hendrix, he pays homage with his superb version of "Little Wing". A good worked album, powerful, performed with amazing authority, he throws directly to listeners’ stomach, which will surely digest it without having to take an Alka Seltzer. GREAT.

Bad Influence “Under The Influence”. Badblues 2011. El rockin’ blues pega con fuerza y sopla con furia inusitada desde la costa este con este grupo llamado Bad Influence. Los músicos llevan desde 1988 tocando para todo tipo de audiencias y evangelizándolos con su trepidante estilo empapado de Hound Dog Taylor, J.B. Hutto, Elmore James, Homesick James, Li’l Ed, George Thorogood, Magic Slim, Walter Horton, Roomful Of Blues, Kim Wilson, B.B. King, Albert King y Freddie King. La banda está formada por Roger Edsall armónica, guitarra rítmica, slide y voz, Bob Mallardi bajo y voz, Michael ‘Jr’ Tash guitarra y voz y David Thaler batería y voz. Bad Influence han sido nominados en diferentes ocasiones a los premios Wammie como mejor banda, mejor instrumentista (Michael Tash), y mejor cantante de blues (Roger Edsall). Trece canciones variadas y festivas completan su cuarto álbum muy inspirado y bien realizado, con una combinación de temas propios y algunas buenas versiones tocadas por unos más que notables músicos, que conocen su profesión y sacan un brillante partido de sus habilidades instrumentales. Since 1988 all musicians have been playing for all kinds of audiences, converting them with his

fast-paced style, with deep influences of artists like Hound Dog Taylor, J.B. Hutto, Homesick James, Elmore James, Li'l Ed, George Thorogood, Magic Slim, Walter Horton, Roomful Of Blues, Kim Wilson, B.B. King, Albert King and Freddie King. The band musicians are Roger Edsall harmonica, rhythm guitar, slide and vocals, Bob Mallardi bass and vocals, Michael 'Jr' Tash guitar and vocals and David Thaler, drums and vocals. Bad Influence has been nominated different times to Wammie Awards as best band, best instrumentalist (Michael Tash), and best blues singer (Roger Edsall). Thirteen varied festive songs round this inspired well done fourth album, with a combination of own songs and some good versions performed by a more than notable musicians who know what they are doing and take a bright advantage of their instrumental skills. Niecie “Beyond The Surface”. Ride The Tiger 2011. Para mí ha sido toda una sorpresa descubrir a esta cantante con una voz espléndida, bien timbrada y unas aptitudes sorprendentes, tanto en la forma como en el fondo de su interpretación. Por sus venas y su garganta de oro corre la sangre del soul y el rhythm and blues, estilos a los que dota de una enorme exuberancia. Pero no queda todo ahí, Neecie aborda el blues con tintes psicodélicos, el rock sureño o el jazz con la naturalidad de aquellos que han nacido para cantar. Desde Detroit hasta llegar a Chicago, Niecie fue siguiendo un camino predestinado para continuar haciendo carrera e ir ganando oportunidades dentro de este competitivo negocio que es la música. Hay que citar dos nombres importantes en la carrera de Niecie, Larry McCray y Magic Slim quienes jugaron un papel importante y definitivo durante su estancia en la ciudad del viento. Este álbum es una maravillosa muestra de su arte vocal, donde expone su amplia capacidad, interpretando diferentes facetas del blues, respaldada en todo momento por un plantel de músicos de gran nivel técnico, desde los teclados a la guitarra, pasando por los metales, hasta desembocar en los espléndidos coros de Crystal Taliefero-Pratt. MUY BUENO. It has been a surprise to discover a singer with a splendid, well pitched voice and amazing skills as well, both in the form and the substance of her performing. The blood of soul and rhythm and blues music runs through her veins and golden throat, she performs with an amazing exuberance. But this is not all, Neecie also deals with psychedelic blues, southern rock and jazz with the natural presence of those who have been born to sing. From Detroit to Chicago, Niecie was following a predestined way to follow on with her career and win new opportunities in the competitive music business. Also mention two important names in Niecie’s career, Larry McCray and Magic Slim who had an important and definitive role while she was living in the windy city. The album is a wonderful sample of her vocal art, where she shows her huge skills performing different blues styles, always backed by a roster of high technical musicians, from keyboards to guitar, horns, and the splendid backing choirs of Crystal Taliefero-Pratt. Bert Deivert “Kid Man Blues”. Self Production 2011. Bert Deivert es un apasionado estudioso de los sonidos de la música del sur profundo de los USA, especialmente del blues del Delta, el Piedmont blues de la costa este y el folk blues en general. En este trabajo Bert aborda desde el más

profundo respeto por la tradición, la música de algunos de sus héroes como R.L. Burnside, Son House, Skip James, Carl Martin o Sleepy John Estes, pero también busca y se refleja en otros intérpretes mucho menos conocidos. Deivert es un magnífico cantante, además de un increíble intérprete de guitarra y mandolina, que toca en el estilo de Yank Rachell y Johnny Young. Bert venera asimismo a Sam Chatmon, Bo Carter, Mississippi Sheiks, Carl Martin, Tampa Red y Scrapper Blackwell entre otros. Aunque es oriundo de Boston, Bert reside actualmente en Suecia, donde ha establecido su nuevo hogar. Esta es una preciosa recopilación de diferentes blues interpretados con elegancia, sutileza y fervor. Entre los diferentes músicos que le acompañan se encuentran algunos grandes conocidos y fieles intérpretes del blues acústico europeo como Brian Kramer tocando una guitarra 1932 National Duolian, o Willie Salomon al piano. Un disco fresco, inspirado y muy convincente. MUY BUENO. Bert Deivert is a passionate student and researcher of deep south USA music sounds, especially Delta blues, east coast Piedmont blues and in general all kinds of folk blues. In this work, Bert brings us with deep respect for tradition, the music of some of his heroes like R.L. Burnside, Son House, Skip James, Carl Martin, or Sleepy John Estes, but also he seeks and reflects himself in other less known artists. Deivert is an splendid singer, as well as an incredible master of guitar and mandolin, he plays in the path of Yank Rachell and Johnny Young. Although he was born in Boston, Bert now lives in Sweden, where he has established his new home. This is a beautiful collection of different blues played with a subtle elegance and great commitment. Among the different musicians who back him you will find some popular European musicians who faithfully perform acoustic blues, like Brian Kramer on a 1932 National Duolian or Willie Salomon on guitar and piano. In short words, a cool, inspired very convincing album. GREAT.

Scott Ellison “Walkin’ Through The Fire”. JSE / BlindRaccoon 2011. Genuino, auténtico, con un envidiable estado de forma y una energía sorprendente, así encontramos al cantante, compositor y guitarrista Scott Ellison en esta nueva entrega, la octava que realiza en solitario, que nos llega a través de Betsie Brown de Blind Raccoon, que es quien se encarga de la promoción de su nuevo álbum “Walkin’ Through The Fire”. Originario de Tulsa, Oklahoma, Scott nos presenta quince canciones originales, donde se hacen evidentes sus influencias y todo lo que ha heredado y le ha servido de inspiración a lo largo de los años, es decir, el sonido Motown, Stax y el Memphis rhythm and blues. Todo ello unido a su profunda admiración por Clarence ‘Gatemouth’ Brown hace que sus canciones sean pura dinamita y lo digo en el más estricto sentido del término. Junto a Scott Ellison que canta y toca diferentes guitarras, se encuentran Charles Tuberville bajo, guitarra y coros, Spenser Sutton piano y Hammond B-3, Jalon Brown (fallecido poco tiempo después de grabar el disco), batería, percusión y Hot Tamale metales. Un álbum con un poco de todo, blues, jive-bopping, funky-soul, reggae-groove… eso sí, todo ello cocinado en su justa medida, con pericia, arte y buenas

maneras. MUY BUENO. Genuine, original, with an enviable good form and surprising energy, is how looks singer, songwriter and guitarist Scott Ellison in this new work, the eighth one recorded under his own name, Betsie Brown of Blind Raccoon and responsible of the album promotion has sent us. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Scott brings us fifteen original songs, where his influences and the music he has inherited which has served as inspiration over the years, become evident, and are Motown, Stax, and Memphis rhythm and blues. All these influences together with his deep admiration for Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown make his music pure dynamite in the true sense of this word. Besides Scott Ellison on different guitars and vocals, you will also find Charles Tuberville on bass, guitar and backing vocals, Spenser Sutton piano and Hammond B-3, Jalon Brown (who passed away shortly after the album recording), on drums, percussion and Hot Tamale horns. An album with a bit of many different styles, blues, jive-bopping, funky-soul, reggae-groove… all cooked in its fair measure, with great skill and extreme good taste. VERY GOOD.

Willie Salomon “Let Your Light Shine”. Acoustic Music 2011. Estudioso y gran conocedor de la música con raíces, en especial del blues rural profundo de la América negra, aunque originario de Ragensburg, Alemania, Willie Salomon nos invita en este álbum a viajar por los años veinte y treinta acompañado de su voz, sus guitarras acústicas, las de doce cuerdas, National Resophonic, piano, mandolina y armónica, todo ello a través de dieciséis canciones que van desde Charley Patton, Josh White, Blind Willie Johnson, Leroy Carr, Buddy Boy Hawkins, hasta composiciones propias de enorme calado y belleza artística. Blues intenso, profundo, armónico y en algunos casos hasta exuberante, por supuesto dentro de la sencillez de los doce compases, en los que Willie Salomon impone su excelente criterio y buen gusto. Música interpretada desde lo más profundo del corazón con respeto y veneración por los viejos trovadores del blues del pasado siglo, tocado con antiguos instrumentos de manera elegante y virtuosa. Hip Shakin’ Mama & The Leg Men “Reclaim Your Land”. Hip Shakin’ Music 2011. Aceptable trabajo que nos llega desde Canadá, de la mano de la cantante Hip Shakin’ Mama, acompañada de su banda The Leg Men, formada por Gerry Perkin a la guitarra, Adrian Kuryliw bajo, los teclistas Rob Lamonica y Phil Nevile, el armonicista Dave Oakey y el batería Doug Sullivan. Son un total de once blues compuestos por ella misma e interpretados con un estilo moderno, donde se pueden reconocer algunas influencias de Willie Dixon o Howlin’ Wolf entre otros. Estas canciones nos sirven para tener una visión de lo que el grupo interpreta en vivo por los locales en los que actúan con frecuencia y regularidad. Hip Shakin’ Mama canta con energía, pasión, ganas y convicción, demostrando tener garra y ‘feeling’ y una de las virtudes más importantes que debe poseer siempre un cantante, credibilidad, y que, por supuesto, ella la tiene. A propósito de las cualidades vocales de Hip Shakin’ Mama, en Alemania la han comparado con Koko Taylor y Etta James, todo un reto para esta joven vocalista que con el tiempo puede llegar a ocupar un buen lugar en el panorama del blues internacional. The cd includes eleven own blues, performed in a modern style, where some immediately recognized Willie Dixon or Howlin’ Wolf influences among other bluesmen. The songs give us a general vision of the music the band regularly plays live in different bars and clubs. Hip Shakin' Mama sings with high energy, passion and conviction, showing she has an amazing feeling and credibility, one of the most important virtues a singer must always have and of course, she has got it. Talking about Hip Shakin' Mama vocal qualities, in Germany people have compared her with Koko Taylor and Etta James, a real challenge for this young singer that little by little could reach a good place among the international blues scene. Xulian Freire y Ñaco Goñi “El Blues Ke Te Cuen”. Self Production 2011. He aquí a dos grandes intérpretes del blues nacional, que unen sus fuerzas con un mismo fin, tocar y divertirse juntos interpretando lo que más les gusta y apasiona. Por un lado tenemos al cantante y guitarrista Xulian Freire, nacido en Galicia pero afincado en Madrid y por el otro al fino estilista de la armónica Ñaco Goñi, un auténtico maestro del instrumento. Ambos nos ofrecen un caluroso y suculento desfile de temas de hondo calado que penetran en lo más profundo de las entrañas del oyente, instalándose en ellas y despertando el gusanillo que todos los amantes del blues llevamos dentro. A medida que transcurre el álbum los genuinos doce compases se van digiriendo con alegría y satisfacción. Son doce temas clásicos que cubren desde T-Bone Walker hasta Muddy Waters, aunque también van desfilando Howlin’ Wolf, Silas Hogan, Sonny Boy Williamson I, Little Milton, Blind Blake, K.C. Douglas e incluso un par de temas firmados por nuestros protagonistas. Eugenio Moirón escribe

unas líneas muy acertadas en el interior del cd, lo que siempre es una garantía. Un disco de blues de arriba abajo, tocado con la devoción de dos músicos que, por encima de todo, aman los blues. MUY BUENO. Here come two great Spanish blues performers, who have joined forces with the same purpose, to play, have fun together and do what they most passionately love. We have singer and guitarist Xulian Freire, born in Galicia but settled in Madrid, together with fine and true harmonica player master Ñaco Goñi. They both give us a hot appetizing set of passionate songs that come deep into every listener heart, arousing the blues feeling all blues lovers carry inside our souls. As the album goes on, the genuine twelve bars are savored with joy and satisfaction. Twelve classic songs, ranging from T-Bone Walker to Muddy Waters, although you will also find Howlin' Wolf, Silas Hogan, Sonny Boy Williamson I, Little Milton, Blind Blake, K.C. Douglas, and even a couple of own songs signed by the two musicians. Eugenio Moirón writes some excellent inner notes, which is always a guarantee. The Cash Box Kings “Holler And Stomp”. Blind Pig 2011. Una vez más el cantante y armonicista Joe Nosek y sus músicos o, lo que es lo mismo, The Cash Box Kings, capturan todo el espíritu y la variedad del Chicago blues tradicional, con ese sello personal que les distingue de otras bandas de similares características. En este nuevo trabajo The Cash Box Kings han apostado fuerte pues, aparte del propio Joe voz y armónica, intervienen también Oscar Wilson vocal, Kenny Smith y Mark Haines baterías, los guitarristas Joel Paterson y Billy Flynn, el bajo, contrabajo y vocalista Jimmy Sutton, Chris ‘CB’ Boeger, al bajo en un tema, el pianista Barrelhouse Chuck y finalmente Alex Hall, batería y piano en un corte. A pesar de que la mayoría de las canciones del álbum van firmadas por Joe, Joel y Oscar, el disco rinde tributo a los grandes del género del blues de Chicago. El espíritu y los fantasmas de Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Willie Dixon o Sonny Boy Williamson se respiran en todas y cada una de las canciones, recuperando asimismo el sonido ‘vintage’ de los años cincuenta. El disco no tiene desperdicio y los fans disfrutarán de lo lindo con estos doce excelentes temas. MUY BUENO. Once again singer and harmonica player Joe Nosek and his musicians or, if you prefer, The Cash Box Kings, capture the whole spirit and variety of the traditional Chicago blues, with the personal touch that distinguishes them from other similar bands. In this new work The Cash Box Kings have bet heavy because, apart from Joe himself on vocals and harmonica, you will also find Oscar Wilson vocals, Kenny Smith and Mark Haines on drums, guitar players Joel Paterson and Billy Flynn, Jimmy Sutton on bass, double bass and vocals, Chris 'CB' Boeger, on bass in one song, piano player Barrelhouse Chuck and finally Alex Hall on drums and piano in one cut. Although most of the album songs are signed by Joe, Joel or Oscar, the album pays tribute to the great names of Chicago blues. The spirit and soul of Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Willie Dixon and Sonny Boy Williamson are present in every track, getting back the 50’s 'vintage' sound. A faultless cd fans will really enjoy with the twelve excellent songs included. GREAT.

Sena Ehrhardt Band “Leave The Light On”. Blind Pig 2011. Aparte de ser una rompecorazones, Sena Ehrhardt es una verdadera furia desatada de la naturaleza, pues posee una voz intensa y poderosa capaz de tumbar al oyente con un único do de pecho. Pero Sena también dispone de un registro vocal dulce y melodioso que puede poner al servicio de la textura de la melodía. Las cualidades vocales de esta interprete seducen sea cual sea el abanico de estilos que ataque, que van desde el blues propiamente dicho, el funk, o el soul. Sena Ehrhardt abarca y mantiene muchas influencias y su experiencia como cantante no es algo nuevo, pues lleva ya años recorriendo en compañía de su padre, clubs, bares, juke joints y festivales por todo el medio oeste de los USA. Las diez canciones que integran el álbum han sido escritas por ella misma en colaboración con su padre, el guitarrista Ed Ehrhardt, quien asimismo toca en el disco y a quien acompañan el bajista Steve Hansen y el batería Tim Hasler. Un disco robusto, variado e incisivo, que no defraudará a las nuevas generaciones de fans del rock blues más moderno y contemporáneo. MUY BUENO. Besides a heartbreaking woman, Sena Ehrhardt is a true unleashed fury of nature, because she has a strong and powerful voice, able to knock down listeners with a single high C. But Sena also has a sweet melodious vocal register she puts to the service of the songs melody texture. Her vocal qualities will seduce people in every kind of styles she performs, ranging from actual blues, funk, and soul. Sena Ehrhardt covers and keeps many different influences and her experience as a singer is not new, because she has been traveling for years with her father, playing in clubs, bars, juke joints and festivals throughout Midwest of USA. Ray Manzarek & Roy Rogers “Translucent Blues”. Blind Pig 2011. Dos grandes músicos han unido sus fuerzas para lanzar juntos una colección de doce bellos y sustanciosos temas. Estos dos maestros son el teclista y cantante Ray Manzarek, que militó en sus tiempos con los legendarios The Doors y el excelente cantante y guitarrista de blues Roy Rogers. El resto de los componentes son Steve Evans bajo, Kevin Hayes batería, George Brooks saxo tenor y Joel Jaffe percusión y voces. “Translucent Blues” es un disco efervescente, lleno de energía, donde las influencias de blues, avant-garde, jazz, soul y rock se transfiguran y toman forma en un proyecto ambicioso lleno de buenos, intensos y mágicos momentos en los que la poesía y la literatura se dan la mano, para transportarnos por un universo etéreo y onírico, dejando al oyente con un dulce y agradable sabor de boca. Sista Monica Parker “Living In The Danger Zone”. Mo Muscle / Frank Roszak 2011. Soberbio, rocoso y demoledor álbum de la excelente y única cantante de blues contemporáneo, gospel, soul y rhythm and blues, Sista Monica Parker, cuya voz borda el entramado musical formado por catorce canciones con unas cualidades y un buen hacer francamente irrepetibles. Sista se reafirma como una tigresa, con unas dotes para el canto asombrosas, más aun, fuera de serie, pues sobresale y se expone de forma majestuosa, dinámica y excitante. Sista Mónica canta, salta, grita y en definitiva se desmelena con desparpajo y gran seducción. La banda que la acompaña suena compacta y bien modulada, la producción es asimismo excelente y los arreglos suenan impecables y acertados. Prácticamente todas las canciones han estado compuestas por la propia Monica Parker, con la excepción de “The Forecast Calls For Pain” de Robert Cray y el gospel tradicional “Glory Hallelujah!”. Un álbum para todo tipo de público y edad, desde bebés hasta centenarios. MUY BUENO. Superb, rocky, devastating album by excellent and unique contemporary blues, gospel, soul and rhythm and blues singer Sista Monica Parker, whose voice perfectly matches with unbelievable qualities and amazing good taste, the musical framework formed by fourteen punching songs. Sista confirms she is a tigress on stage, with a surprising unusual singing talent, standing out in a majestic, dynamic and exciting way. Sista Monica sings, jumps, screams and gives the best of herself with great seduction and self-confidence. The backing band sounds teamed and compact, production is also excellent and arrangements are faultless and accurate. Almost all cuts included have been written by Monica Parker herself, except "The Forecast Calls For Pain" by Robert Cray and the traditional gospel song "Glory Hallelujah!". In short words, it is album for all kind of audiences and ages, from babies to hundred years old people. GREAT.

Lightnin’ Guy & The Mighty Gators “Banana Peel Sessions”. Parsifal 2010. Un sugestivo y variado álbum grabado en riguroso directo desde el Banana Peel en Bélgica, un entrañable local donde desde hace muchísimos años se puede escuchar blues. El protagonista de tal evento es el cantante, armónica y guitarrista estadounidense de slide, Lightnin’ Guy. Le acompaña su banda formada por Will Landin bajo y Nina Singh batería. Ghizzoni como cantante y The Alligator Nail Band, nos damos una vuelta y nos acercamos a vivir plenamente la música vibrante, hipnótica y original de la tradición del más oscuro sonido pantanoso de los ‘bayous’ de la Louisiana. También recorreremos el energético y siniestro mundo del ‘voodoo’ de New Orleans. No contentos con todo ello, también disfrutaremos del baile y la diversión con los ritmos festivos y calientes del zydeco y nos adentraremos en el rock-blues, e incluso el gospel y, adivina, pues todo ello por el mismo precio. Este disco destila frescura y buen sabor, con un total de nueve canciones, de las cuales ocho son originales de la banda, mas el clásico “Hound Dog” que Leiber & Stoller compusieron para Big Mama Thorton y que popularizó Elvis Presley, sobre todo para la audiencia blanca. Y aunque después de todo lo dicho parezca que nos encontramos en el mismo corazón de Louisiana, los músicos protagonistas de esta aventura son italianos. La verdad es que nunca lo hubiera dicho. This album oozes a cool atmosphere and good taste, with a total of nine tracks, eight the band own songs, plus the classic "Hound Dog" Leiber & Stoller wrote for Big Mama Thornton and which was popularized by Elvis Presley for the white audiences. The Steel Wheels son una verdadera y genuina banda americana que explora territorios sonoros que van desde el bluegrass hasta el blues, pasando por la old-time-music y otros géneros afines. A pesar de respetar la tradición que estas músicas representan y significan para la mayoría de los estudiosos y aficionados, The Steel Wheels lo permutan todo, innovando y buscando nuevos resortes que introducir a sus composiciones, mostrando a las audiencias su particular forma de crear un nuevo estilo. El grupo está formada por Trent Wagler voz, guitarra y banjo, Jay Lapp mandolina, guitarra y voz, Brian Dickel bajo y voz y Eric Brubacker fiddle y voz. Hans Theessink captura la atención del oyente por etapas y nos va envolviendo con su música y su discurso tranquilo y sosegado, sin alterarse ni asfixiar al oyente. Hans es un verdadero maestro de la guitarra, de la mandolina, del banjo y de varios otros instrumentos. Burton Winn “First Light”. Self Production 2012. Un estupendo ejercicio de blues, rock y fusión hindú, a cargo de un más que notable bajista y cantante llamado Burton Winn, quien se estrena con este primer álbum bajo su propio nombre. En “First Winn”, Burton se ha acompañado de miembros de la banda del fallecido Johnny Nitro como son Joe Lococo a la guitarra, Kathy Tejcka a la voz y los teclados y Robin Roth a la batería. A ellos hay que añadirles un par de músicos invitados como son los excelentes guitarristas Eric Blakely y Steve Freund, cuyas intervenciones dan un golpe de efecto a este fuerte y poderoso disco que estoy seguro sorprenderá a más de un oyente, sobre todo las dos últimas canciones, “Bala Gopala Krishna” y “Sri Pate”, dos temas donde Burton Winn y el resto del grupo incluyen la música hinduista de corte tradicional, la primera cantada en sánscrito, donde además el sitar juega un papel importante. Un joven cantante y guitarrista, dinámico, fresco y efervescente, que emerge con fuerza en el panorama de la música inglesa y que, en cuanto sea un poco más conocido, estoy seguro que tendrá muchas cosas que contarnos, pues por el momento ya despunta con grandes cualidades técnicas llenas de efectismo. A pesar que desde muy pequeño escuchó y recibió muchas influencias musicales por parte de sus padres, el chico desarrolló un profundo amor y devoción por el blues, música que lleva, no solo en el corazón, sino también en la mente. Este cd es una auténtica muestra del blues que elabora, un blues muy suyo, muy particular, plasmado y tocado con mucha personalidad y énfasis. Por supuesto la dinámica y los patrones que se siguen en este álbum son los del blues-power y las diez

Así se presenta esta cantante de alto nivel y estilismo llamada Sharon Lewis, dotada además de gran talento y carisma. La característica más sugestiva de su voz, es que puede cantar tanto gospel como blues, soul o jazz. De hecho domina todos los géneros con una maestría envidiable. Sharon nació en Fort Worth, Texas y desde muy pequeña se inició en el mundo de la música, pasando de cantar en un coro de gospel local, a ser una ávida fan del rhythm and blues y en especial de Tina Turner. Ya en Chicago se inició en la escena de los clubs cantando regularmente blues, funk, baladas o soul, al lado de músicos como Johnny B. Moore, Harmonica Hinds o Dave Specter. En el 2005 montó su propia banda llamada Texas Fire. El cantante, compositor y guitarrista Toronzo Cannon nos muestra en este álbum diferentes caras del blues, sobre todo del blues contemporáneo, estilo que domina ampliamente. Además cuenta con una sección de ritmo llena de funk y groove, bien musculada, equilibrada y contundente, que responde al unísono, como una máquina perfectamente engrasada, que camina sola y sobre todo dispuesta a lidiar con todo lo que le echen. Toronzo no solo es un músico competente, sino que es competitivo y eficaz y se arriesga en sus proyectos con atrevimiento, una virtud no exenta de riesgo en muchas ocasiones. Cannon posee una fuerte confianza en sí mismo, cree en lo que hace y este proyecto es una perfecta demostración de todo ello. Los músicos que lo acompañan son Lawrence Gladney guitarra rítmica y coautor de las composiciones junto a Toronzo, Roosvelt Purifoy piano, órgano y Fender Rhodes, Larry Williams bajo, Marty Binders batería y los invitados Matthew Skoller armónica y Carl Weathersby guitarra.
