Chantiers jeunesse Maroc (CJM)I - A brief historical view

The voluntary service started in Morocco with a great historical project "the Road of Unity" 12000 young volunteers had to build a road which linked the central zone which was under the Frensh domination to the north of the country which was dominated by the Spanish.

This project took place the year Morocco got independent, that is in 1956. In 1961 a group of volunteers from "the Road of Unity" together with another group of youth which had some experience in voluntary service through their participation in international workcamps in Europe undertook the creation of a national structure dealing with voluntary service.

"Chantiers Jeunesse Maroc" was born and can be considered as a continuation of the spirit of the "Road of Unity" "Chantiers Jeunesse Maroc", since it was born participed in different important national projects such as "DERRO" (Economical and rural development of the occidental Rif) (1968-1969) , Haouz , a project in which young farmers where taught new agricultural techniques preparing for the change in the regime follarving the introduction of irragation , the school canteen operation , building of schools , canteen in rural primary schools and different campaigns against illeteracy.

Today, with a rich experience behind it, CJM is preparing itself to enter new fields of concern such as the preservation of the environment, the preservation of the architectural heritage and social work in its varios faces.

II - Chantiers Jeunesse Maroc's activities

The association managed to assert its existence in the national level where its presence has been confirmed by different activities undertaken by the locals branchs which covert great deal of the territory .Among its activities we can note:

The organisation of international workcamps through the country. Exchange of volunteers and of camps leaders. Organisations of camp-leader training session, seminaries, ... Publication of pamphlets dealing with associative work.

III - Chantiers Jeunesse Maroc

Chantiers Jeunesse Maroc wiches to achieve through its activities social, cultural and educational goals:

The formation of citizen responsable towards himself and society. The contribution in the social and economical development of the under-privileged classes. The development of exchange between youth of different horizons throuth international

workcamps. The development of the group spirit in individuals. The strengthening of friendship, peace and solidarity values.

IV - Chantiers Jeunesse Maroc's contacts and relations Since its creation CJM has enriched its experience benefiting from different experiences of others. Besides its being a founding member of UMAC (1963) (Moroccan Union of Workcamps Association) it has developed a network of international contacts with more 90 organisations

The town is built on the plain which dominate the ocean, the seaside is beautiful.“Chantiers jeunesse Maroc” is organizing a workcamp with the collaboration of the education authorities. The workcamp will take place in a primary school “Halima Saadia”

Number of volunteers: 20

Nature of the work: Gardening , planting, painting frescoas in the primary school.

The duration of work is be 5 hours /a day.

Meals : Meals will be prepared by volunteers.

Activities : You will also have to bring with you working clothes, a sleeping bag, and anything which could contribute to the good progress of the workcamp (game sets, musical instruments the workcamp (game sets, musical instruments, cooking recipe, etc….)

Taroudant is an old city 70 km east of Agadir, it is known for its remparts ; its geographical situation close to the high Atlas Mountains and the doors of the desert."Chantiers jeunesse Maroc"is organizing a workcamp with the collaboration with the municipalityof Taroudant.Number of volunteers: 20 Nature of the work: Volunteers will have to work in the creation of the green space in the city of Taroudant:Gardening , painting.

The duration of work is 5 hours a day.Meals: Meals will be prepared by volunteers.: Leisure activities Volunteers will have to setup their own programme of leisure activities. There are some hints to help you setup this a leizure programme. Visiting Agadir and its beaches.There are some oasis close to Taroudant such as Tiliouine and the Glaoui’s Kasba. You will also have to bring with them working clothes, a sleeping bag, and anything which could contribute to the good progress of the workcamp (game sets musical instruments, cooking recipe, etc….) 20/7/- 03/8/2016Nador is a city on the Mediterranean coast East of Morocco at 135 km to the west of Oujda , situated on a big lagoon , called Marchica lagoon , its population is about 300 000 .“chantiers jeunesse Maroc” is organizing a workcamp with the collaboration of the Ministry of education.

Nature of the work: The work consists of laying out, and gardening and painting in school. The duration of work is 5 hours a day. The work will be going hand in hand with other activities which will be undertaken by the volunteers themselves: outings, family visits, cultural entertainment, sports, visits historic monuments

Lodging: The volunteers will be lodging in Toumana school at 6 km from Nador center

Meals: will be prepared by volunteers.

Leisure activities:Volunteers will have to setup their own programme of leisure activities. There are some hints to help you setup this programme.Volunteers could go the beaches of the region, they are very close Mediterranee (cap de l’eau,Saidia, Arekmane , Marchika Laguna etc) You will also have to bring with you working clothes, a sleeping bag, and anything which could contribute to the good progress of the workcamp (game sets, musical instruments, cooking recipe, etc...).

Boulmane is a small Town situated in the middle Atlas at 85 kms to the south - east of Fès. It is famous for the snowfall during winter and mild temperature in summer. The middle Atlas big summits: Michlifen, Hibri and Habri are at a height of 2000 m. The area is also covered with tremendous forests. It is known by its natural panoramas and authentic monuments: “Ksour Ifkern” at 1700m alt.

“Chantiers jeunesse Maroc” is organizing a workcamp in collaboration with “Association de bienfaisance Boulmane”

Number of volunteers: 20Nature of the work: The project consists of working in a water spring to set up the area (Ain Aghbalou) , planting and gardening.

Lodging: the volunteers will be hosted in a student house in Boulmane.


Activities: You will also have to bring with them working clothes, a sleeping bag, and anything which could contribute to the good progress of the workcamp (game sets, musical instruments, cooking recipe, etc….). This will give you an interesting opportunity to discover cultural reality and habits of the local population.

Number of volunteers: 20 Nature of the work: The project will be with the department of youth in Casablanca; work consists of gardening and painting frescoes in a youth center of Casablanca ; the duration of work is 5hours a day.Lodging: volunteers will be lodged in the same center. Meals: Meals will be prepared by volunteers. The workcamp will take place in Témara which is the extension of Rabat at a distance of 15 km. Rabat has been designated as the capital of Morocco in the beginning of the last century, but it did not wait till the 20th century to be distinguished as a city .The remparts, the huge historical gates, and hassan tower are there to remind us of that. The climate is agreable in summer.It's known by its nice beaches about 15 km to the south of Rabat."Chantiers jeunesse Maroc"is organizing a workcamp with the collaboration with Ministry of education.

Bni Oualid is a village near Taounate on the Rif mountains. It is distant of Taounate by 25 km and of Fès by 120 km ; "Chantiers jeunesse Maroc"is organizing a workcamp with the collaboration with the council ofBni Oualid. Number of volunteers: 20

Nature of the work: Creating a green space in a popular quarter in the village. .The duration of work is 5 hours a day.

Meals: Meals will be prepared by volunteers.

Leisure activities:Volunteers will have to setup their own programme of leisure activities. There are some hints to help you setup this programme.also have to bring with you working clothes, a sleeping bag, and anything which could contribute to the good progress of the workcamp (game sets, musical instruments, cooking recipe, etc...).

Nature of project : cleaning , creating a green space.

Boulmane is a small Town situated in the middle Atlas at 85 kms to the south - east of Fès. It is famous for the snowfall during winter and mild temperature in summer. The middle Atlas big summits: Michlifen, Hibri and Habri are at a height of 2000 m. The area is also covered with tremendous forests. It is known by its natural panoramas and authentic monuments: “Ksour Ifkern” at 1700m alt.

“Chantiers jeunesse Maroc” is organizing a workcamp in collaboration with heath authorities Of Boulmane.

Number of volunteers: 20Nature of the work: The project consists of working with the health authorities of Boulmane , planting trees , gardening in the local hospital.

Lodging: the volunteers will be hosted in a student house in Boulmane.


Activities: You will also have to bring with them working clothes, a sleeping bag, and anything which could contribute to the good progress of the workcamp (game sets, musical instruments, cooking recipe, etc….). This will give you an interesting opportunity to discover cultural reality and habits of the local population.

Leisure activities : Volunteers will have to setup their own programme of leisure activities. There are some hints to help you setup this programme.
