Belarus uses 1.9 to 2.0 Mtoe per year. The amount of energy made from wind farms in Belarus is about 220 billion kilowatts per hour! The wind energy in Belarus isn’t growing very quickly at all because investors are having problems in the Republic of Belarus, so they can not afford to pay for more wind farms. In Belarus there are only two types of turbines existing. The government of Belarus has made a program so they can try to get the wind energy sector to develop faster, between the years of 2008 and 2014. Wind is renewable. This means it is, and always will be around, and will never run out. Wind is always around so if you have enough wind where you live, it is possible there is a wind farm around, like in Belarus.

The Dnieper River is a river that crosses Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia, and is 2,290 kilometers long! That’s HUGE! The UNDP’s regional GEF project has helped Belarus and other countries make approaches that will help them manage the environment around the river so none of the plants, or animals, will became extinct. The drinking water from the river is used carefully because now 40% of the water that is taken does not meet the requirements needed. This is the reason why many plant, and animal species are becoming extinct in Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus.

Wood energy is good for cooking and heating. You can heat your house, and cook at the same time. You can also use this power source for sometimes fueling steam engines, and for steaming turbines that make electricity. Wood fuel can be used as firewood, sawdust, chips, pellets, and sheets. Belarus used 2.24 Mtoe in 2010, and they believe that about 3.10 Mtoe will be used in the year of 2012. Wood energy can be used anywhere around the world. This is used everyday in Belarus, and in other places around the globe.

The House of Representatives is a one hundred-ten seat house. Only eight of the representatives are chosen directly by the president of Belarus. After the president assigns the eight people, then the others are chosen by the prime minister. The House of Representatives in Belarus is different than the House of Representatives in the United States. Here we have a Legislative Branch, a Judicial Branch, and an Executive Branch. In Belarus they don’t have any branches of any kind. The House of Representatives is a part of the Republic government in Belarus.

Swamps are usually found near rivers or lakes, and have mineral soil that drains down slowly. Swamps don’t always have water. They can have water for one year, or they can have water for only part of a year. They can be different sizes and shapes. Swamps are classified by the types of trees that grow in it. One type of religion in Belarus are Jews. There are more than forty Hebrew communities in Belarus. Jews speak Yiddish, or Hebrew, and have many traditions that they celebrate. One of them is called a circumcision, or a brit milah. It is celebrated for a newborn baby on the eighth day of it’s life. The parents of the baby must call as soon as possible after the baby is born, so they can celebrate on the correct day, at the correct time. Jews have a symbol that looks sort of like the north star. It has purple, bronze, and silver on it, with a whole in the center of it. If someone wanted to, they could wear this symbol as a necklace.
