What’s Chu-seok?Chu-Seok is like Thanksgiving day back in

the states. On that day we make offerings of grain and fruit from

the first harvest of the year to our ancestors. Along with Lunar New Year’s , it’s Korea’s biggest holiday when family members who live scattered in distant places get together for a reunion.

Chu-seok is August 15th according to the lunar calendar. Korean traditional name: 한가위 , Han-Ga-Wi

Representative food송편 , Song-Pyeon (rice cake)

What do we do on that day?(Wear 한복 , Han-Bock)

What do we do on that day?( 성묘 , Seong-Myo: visit family’s graves)

What do we do on that day?(Playing)

널뛰기 , Neol-Ttwi-GiKorean traditional jumping game seimilar to see-sawing

강강술래 , Gang-Gang-Sul-Lae Korean traditional circle dance play by

women under the full moon.

줄다리기 , Jul-Da-Ri-Gi (Tug-of-war) Korean traditional game. Pull the long rope by two

parties.

씨름 , Ssi-Reum (Korean wrestling)

소싸움 , So-Ssa-Um (Cow fighting)
