Dear Jòzef,

I promised the organizers to write a short report of my impressions on an very interesting activity of the IEEE Ukraine Section and in particular of the professional activities of the Chapter in Kharkov, Ukraine.

The professional activities event was embedded in the IX. Kharkiv Young Scientist Conference on “Electromagnetics, Photonics, and Biophysics” organized by the Usikov Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics (IRE) of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), the Young Scientist Council of IRE NASU, and the State Research and Design Institute of Basic Chemistry (NIOCHIM) in cooperation with the IEEE AP/MTT/ED/AES/GRS/NPS/EMB Joint Chapter of East Ukraine, the IEEE MTT Student Chapter “IRE-Kharkiv-MTT”, and the IEEE Student Branch “IRE-Kharkiv”.

The conference was perfectly organized by the chairs of the IEEE chapters mentioned above. As far as I was free to attend other presentations during the 3 days event (1. - 3. Dec) I got a very good impression of the mixture of invited papers of international scientists and young scientists presenting their research work.

In this framework I contributed with a 4 hours "Leadership-Workshop" and three 1hour presentations on “Body Language in Business”, “Energy- and Evnvironmental Crises – A Challenge for Everybody”, and “Tesla`s European Years”. The latter I was asked to repeat in the plenary Section on the last day. My contributions which I announced as part of the Region 8 PA Program were very well accepted.

In the closing session young scientists were awarded for there outstanding papers whereby I was asked to hand them out to the awards winners. This also gave me the opportunity to address the conference on your behalf thanking the organizers and to say a few words about IEEE in general and Region 8 in particular. Unfortunately, I could not ask you in advance but I assumed you would not oppose it.
