ERIN’S TAKE:

Not Wearable. I wouldn’t be caught dead in them. BUT it’s very possible that custom printed 3D shoes have a big role to play in the future.

ERIN’S TAKE:

Wearable. I like the sci-fi meets Slinky design. If I had one I wouldn’t have to fight fellow Comrades for control of the air conditioner.

WHY IT’S INTERESTING

•  16.5% of all energy consumption in the US comes from air conditioning and heating

•  If the device stops one building from adjusting its temperature by just 1 degree Celsius, it will save roughly 100 kilowatt-hours per month.

•  Invented by MIT students in an attempt to replace air conditioning and heating units in an energy efficient, cost effective way.

•  It’s a thermoelectric bracelet that sends pulses of hot or cold waveforms to the wrist. This causes the wearer to feel cooled or warmed.

2 SOLEPOWER

A power generating shoe insole that can charge electronics.

10

WHY IT’S INTERESTING:

•  Did you know that 84% of people in Kenya have mobile phones, but only 14% of them have access to electricity

•  Sole power harnesses kinetic electricity and uses it to charge a battery pack. This can be used to charge a phone or light a room

1 TINITELL

A minimalist designed mobile wrist phone featuring a GPS tracker for kids.

13

WHY IT’S INTERESTING:

•  The Tinitel watch is a one button touch phone that allows a child to easily make phone calls

•  The app allows parents to track and call their child

ERIN’S TAKE:

Wearable. I’ll never lose my imaginary kids again.

HONORABLE MENTION

FITBARK

Fitbit for your dog! Track your dogs activity.

ERIN’S TAKE:

Not wearable. Knowing much play and sleep my dog is getting would be cool for about a week.
