UnderstandingIoTMarketDevelopment

▸  Internet of things is where objects connect to each other directly

▸  Number of connected devices and connections will grow rapidly over next few years at a CAGR of 29.98% during the period 2016-2020

▸  eSIM will dominate the M2M market, counting 50% of connections by 2020, says Juniper

▸  New LPWA access technologies including NB IoT

▸  Introduction of 5G Standards

▸  Most communicating objects will be simple low power IoT devices with low or no security at all

SupportedLPAconfigura=ons

Ø  LPA in a device (LPAd) provides a full flexibility to order, download and manage eUICC profiles. Can be used for different devices with or without UI

Ø  LPA in IoT.SIM (LPAe) provides out of the box agent enabling basic provisioning operations such as profile activation relying on modem BIP support. Ideal for M2M only devices without UI.

IoT Test Bed supports 2 LPA configurations:

IoT.SIM-based

Device-based

▸  Vanilla, not activated, device without bootstrap subscription

▸  Non-activated device with a bootstrap profile

▸  Non-activated device with a commercial profile

There are several device deployments options with eSIM: •  Activation and subscription provisioning

should be implemented via Local Provisioning Agent (LPA) / Companion Device or Connection

•  Device can go online and can pull proper

subscription or get provisioned

•  Only activation required, no provisioning needed
