ABOUT KAREN

I’m a writer by trade, but I've always been drawn to sewn artwork as a means of expression. It’s very similar to writing: I’m weaving together a story with thread. It’s detailed and focused work. I love every minute of it. Each one of my designs usually begins with a decision that morning. What do I feel like making today? Then I let it happen. That’s what makes the process so much fun! It could take hours or just one hour, depending on how the idea forms. It typically comes from something my daughters and I saw on the beach during one of our many beach day adventures. We put our treasures in a bucket, take lots of pictures, then reminisce about it all later. It’s a place of complete joy. That’s the one comment I get over and over: “Your pillows feel so happy.” It is my hope that they evoke a special memory of a wonderful time you cherish and every time you hold it, you smile. Because in that moment, life was totally awesome. —Karen
