Step 1 – Making the Handle

Our handles are made with high quality tiger maple. First, we rough cut the shape on the bandsaw, then we use a template and a table router to smooth out the sides. A quick touch up on the spindle sander readies the handle for gluing.

Step 2 – Steaming

To prepare for steaming, we rip thin strands of red oak and maple. We then add the strips to the steamer for several hours in order to let the steam permeate the wood grains, making them elastic and ready to bend.

Step 3 – Bending To prepare for steaming, we rip thin strands of red oak and

maple. We then add the strips to the steamer for several hours in order to let the steam permeate the wood grains, making them elastic and ready to bend. This allows for the best land fishing nets on the market

Step 4 – Gluing

After the oak and maple strips have been bent, we remove them from the mold, add waterproof wood glue onto the surfaces, and quickly reclamp on the mold. The nets are left to sit for another two days while the glue sets.

Step 5 – Shaping

Once the glue has set, we begin shaping the net. For this, we use a belt sander to remove excess adhesive, a jig saw to trim jagged edges, the spindle sander to refine those edges, and multiple router bits to create a rounded edge and groove. We then drill holes in the groove which will accept the net thread.

Step 6 – Finishing

The net frame is sanded down at various stages to 500 grit in order to achieve an attractive finish. We then coat it with wax, sand, and repeat.

Step 7 – Netting

The net bag is sewn onto the frame using a heavy strand of thread. Our branding tag is added and the net is ready to go!
