Who, what, why & when?Who?

This app is targeted health & leisure companies that require ways of keeping track of their members and having a way of securing their suites from people who are not registered members.

What?To allow companies to have a secure system which they can monitor the members.

When?To be used when a member enters and leaves the premises making it possible to track members

visits.Why?

To improve the entrance time by switching to a digital system, allowing information to be stored for a later date.

Does this app help users?

Helping to regulate the use of the gym, preventing access from non members keeping the gym and entire facility more safe and secure.

Allow the use of digital booking, prevent overload of facility and can be used for data analysis (E.g. Peak times)

Allow staff to monitor the members currently in the gym and check if any equipment has been misused and the members who were in at the time.

GoalsPreventing unauthorised access to gym equipment and facilities.

● Our key goal is to create a system that isn't suitable for just one gym, but to be able to be used in any place no matter the size of the company.

● Creating a web application that will help with increasing revenue for the smaller gyms is a crucial part of our development and we will continue to keep that in mind.

● Create an application that is simplistic to use and will improve both safety and speed for gym members.

Does the app solve problems?Your gym is full of people using the equipment, yet you know some of them have expired

memberships and you don’t have the time to go around and check with them all. This is costing you and your company money.

The problems we’re solving:Saving staff time by allowing them to communicate by sending information through this app; checking

unauthorised usersSaving money by preventing unauthorised users from entering the gym.

Saving members time by allowing them to book in advance and see other bookings and a capacity/usage at certain times.

Elevator Pitch1. We’re developing a web application that will be able to control and record the traffic of users in

gyms.

2. We’re targeting smaller companies that do not use a universal system or do not have large amounts of money to be able to invest in larger softwares.

3. Therefore we plan to create this web application that can be used from an average computer and will need little power to be able to run, all the management will be done server side and will only require a the administrator account that is given with the license.

4. From market research we have discovered that most smaller town gyms struggle to track their paying members and often end up getting confused, or still use a sign in sheet which takes time to add to a digital database causing it hard to track who is not paying.

Alternative productsAnother product that is similar to our app is ‘EZfacility’.This app is more focused on tracking user data from exercises, arrival times, recording any form of information this product can adapt to. The difference between this product and our app is that it can be easily integrated into hardware swipe card readers, however our app doesn’t have as many options as the EZfacility.

User story

Office/admin user will be able to send information to the gym training room as well as register new users.

Gym members can swipe their cards for ease of access and book in advance.

Combining these inputs will enable the office user to organise the gym facilities more efficiently.

Application flow & user feedbackWhen a user visits the gym they will be presented with a form of inputting

device either this be a card reader or a keyboard to sign in manually.

This will then record the data onto the database and show the members

name on the register page for the duration of their stay.

This is when they sign out while leaving the premises.

From surveys we have found out that signing in and out should be

a fast experience and shouldn’t affect the time that the member has

in the gym so we created our application to be simple and effective as we

have integrated a system which will allow card readers to automatically

input all the users data without them having to sign in.

Feasibility studyThis will be achieved by our team using development languages such as HTML,CSS,JavaScript and PHP. Hardware for swiping cards is already in place at the gym entrance and will need to be connected to a database containing the members information. The site will be accessed by mobile and desktop computers for both members and office users.

Business Case & PledgesWe will keep a list of problems and apply them to a burndown chart to acknowledge us if we need to work harder or polish the app. Items added to the case are: - JavaScript coding (more modern feel).- Speed (avoiding slow loading times).- Confirmation (letting the users know they’re signed in/booked).

Marketing StrategyPromotion: Here we can use advertising online to help boost our reputation and e-mail gym managers to tell them of our app that can help them. Branding: We can apply our branding to letter/flyers, ads that are posted online and even to gym products. Research: Our research concluded that most gym users use mobile apps to track their fitness and stats, which lead to the idea of bookings to see who is in the gym. Data analysis: By categorising gyms we can see what gyms find our app useful and others to locate improvements, as well as using the results to improve distribution.

WildcardOur app will be tested and implemented at the Grimsby Institute Further and Higher Education; the project fits into our assignments. The app is design and created by the development team ‘The big bang theorists’.

The application is being licensed to Grimsby Institute Sports Centre once development has finished and this will be the first public test, any bugs and issues will be addressed at this point.
