VISION

My design phylosophy is inspired by the location, the surroundings, the colors , the views, the feelings, the history and lead by the

idea of the creation of versatile, lively, safe and cosy spaces for people.Spaces where everybody can rest, relax and enjoy.

Cumberland Basin is located in the heart of Bristol, within the River Avon and the Floating Harbour. This area has been identified as suitable for regeneration measures. My design proposal aimed to create a Renewable Energy Park that provides a large area of education, entertainment and leisure, for body and mind. The area in detail is composed of three spaces: the main green boulevard, the regenerative-sensorial garden and the floating deck.

RENEWABLE ENERGYThe floating deck has been designed to be a pole for the production of energy. The wind turbines with no blades takes advantage of the vorticity, an aerodynamic effect that occurs when wind breaks against a solid structure. The mast is made of fiber glass and carbon fiber. Depending on the wind acceleration the structure starts to oscillate, and captures the energy that is produced. The kinetic energy is converted into electricity by a built in linear alternator. Then this is tranferred to a pump which activate the water jet features in the inner pond. Depending on the wind flow the jet fountain can be low, medium or high.

LAND ARTOne of the main characteristic of the regenerative garden are the shaped flower beds, that are a tribute to the water and its inhabitants. Every year Bristol hosts the Air Baloon festival, that involves thousands of visitors, and the International Airport of the city is located a few miles away on the south west of the park. From the height of an air baloon or a plane it is possible to admire this land art and its colours, which become a landmark of this site.

The Crossroads02Kingswood, UKProfessional Experience, Harris Ethical Ltd

The centre of Kingswood Village is currently dominated by random car parks all along the main road branches and within the village centre. This resulted in a key focal point of the village that lacks a sense of character and community use.The design intention was to re-organise the car parkings in order to create a series of lansdscape hubs, which responded better to the identity of the area and the opportunities inherent in communal gathering. This involved research and understanding of streetscape plan and its application to the context of a village vernacular.

In order to reduce the speed of cars along the main fast roads a series of procedures have been implemented, such as the inclusion of speed bumps and a raised ground level within the central area (in brown). These operations allow pedestrian to move more safely and freely around the central space.

Magnolia Court Garden03

The module brief for this design project required the restoration of an intenal courtyard, set within a University campus and left abandoned and unused for several years. My aim was to create an open space and a sustainable garden, which ecompassed a strong design vision based around the ethos of university learning and self development. The result is a vibrant, multifunctional and safe environment, easily accessible 24H by staff and students. A space that encourages community, shared- learning and relaxation.

The Forest Activity Centre04

Lightmoor Colliery closed during the 1960s after hundred years of depth shaft coal mining. This de-spoiled and polluted landscape has today been identified by the Royal Forest of Dean Borough Council as a site suitable for regeneration measures, as a part of mixed use development plan.In order to increase the range of employment in the area, my design proposal is based on a mixes use development with a residential forest outdoor activities centre as a core feature of the scheme. The project also involved consideration of phyto-remediation and bio-engineering techniques, combined with a sustainable design phylosophy. These planning &design concepts are combined with the 'genius-loci' of the site and the consideration of place and meaning to create an aesthetic response that captures the forest's unique character.
