First and foremost, understanding the system and how AX works is key.  However, maybe even more important, is that a consultant has the ability to communicate well.  As a Dynamics AX consultant, one talks with coworkers and/or clients regarding the client’s needs and implementation of complicated system changes.  Communication is key to ensuring the change meets the needs of the client and is completed correctly the first time.

Please give us a brief description of what you look for in a good Consultant.

Give us a brief overview of what the day to day is like for a member of your team.

A typical day as an mcaConnect employee involves discussing the client’s needs in a variety of ways and working to accomplish them.  This could be internally with the project team or with the client.  On the functional side, one day may include modeling out relevant scenarios or working to explain to the client how they can use the system to better their business and make their job easier.  On the technical side, a consultant will work through the adjustments that are needed for a particular client and code a solution or work to resolve any technical issue that has come up in a particular AX environment.

mcaConnect exemplifies the importance of teamwork.  On a typical day, there are emails passing between the whole company or within the technical or functional teams to work through any difficult scenarios that we are facing with an AX implementation.  When a consultant is stuck, unsure or just wants confirmation from the team on an approach within AX, all they have to do is ask! The team is always ready to ask any needed clarifying questions and present an option or different viewpoint on the solution.

What’s the culture like within the team and department?

Part of the benefit of a team that works together to help each other improve in their expertise is that over a period of time a consultant can learn enough and develop to advance in their career.  With the growth that AX is experiencing and the development of new features, there are always opportunities within the roles that currently exist at mcaConnect along with the ability to create new positions to meet a new niche within AX!
