So?How do we get there?

You ? Or your Stars?• “A sound mind in a sound body”• Long run success depends on commitment. – Are you fed up with your current situation? Saving

coins in the super market?– You have defined goals where you want to be?– Do you know how high you have to jump? And the

hurdles? Are you really really committed ? – A sound mind

You ? Or your Stars?• The willingness and desire to change? And attitude? – Top achievers are more than just willing to work hard: they

want to work hard– To work hard and smart towards achieving clearly defined

goals– And your health care for? Are you ready? Or do you want a

quick fix? Is there a quick fix for physical fitness? Don’t take unrealistic turns.

– Have you assessed the cost and benefits for the commitment?

– Do you see the brightness at the end of the tunnel? Eye on the ball?

negative people as pests, avoid them– If you want to change the kind of manager,

officer, wife, husband you are, change the kind of person you are,

– You are what you say and do. The body follows the mind. Be the kind of person you want to be, a success.

– Train carefully. Train regularly. Train hard. Be in the real success situation, see yourself there

Learn to Distinguish between Problems and Facts

• Problem solving and Managing time- when is the best time?

• Do it now. Do it right.• A problem, a challenge can be fixed. • If you are dealing with a circumstance that cannot be

changed or fixed, then it’s no longer a problem: it’s a fact. – Because it’s a fact, there’s no reason to waste emotional

energy feeling frustrated. Let it go.• Save time and energy for problems you can do

something about. So there is time to let go and re focus!

Discipline and commitment• Nearly everyone, every officer, man ,

woman “work very hard” for their success.– Success is not a matter of luck.– Discipline is remember what you want.– The only discipline that lasts is self-discipline.– Be consistent in the purpose

Any hurdles?• Embrace adversity as something positive• All great triumphs are preceded by some kind of crisis.

• Without crisis leaders never get the chance to prove themselves and the time to be alert and vigilant is when everything is going well.

• Be fearless in seizing opportunities – as Nike says ‘Just do it’

Any hurdles?• Turn challenges into positives. “Success is never giving up • Motivation and energy are worth 3 times your physical

resources. – facing reality checks. Confront them knowing that

accepting and overcoming these challenges will help make you the person you ought to be!

– If you hit a rough spot, keep going. – Even when you feel discouraged, do the assignments

anyway. – Champions keep playing until they get it right.– But don’t choke, breathe, exhale, relax

Develop Mental Toughness and Maintain Focus

• Stress and setbacks are part of everyone’s life.• You have to be tough.• Everything depends on your mental outlook

Use Visualization• Imagine yourself doing something successful

before you actually begin it. – It’s like a move you run in your head. A positive

dream!– “If I can conceive it, I can believe it. If I can believe

it, I can achieve it.” Jessie Jackson– Imitate a champion. Pattern yourself after someone

who is outstanding. – Learn from others, but improve yourself.– Just because someone wins the race, don’t assume

it was easy for them.

Have High Expectations for Yourself

• You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them.

• Keep in mind that it is what you expect of yourself that matters, not what others expect– Set your achievement goals , and know what you are

able and willing to do to achieve success.. – Monitor your progress continually
