E-RATE DESCRIPTION
The E-rate program provides discounts to receive voice, video, and data communications.
The amount of the discount depends on the level of poverty and location of the school or library receiving service.
The discount ranges from 20% to 90% of the cost of eligible services.
Elementary and secondary schools are eligible to receive discounts--including many private schools and religious schools.
Public libraries and library systems can receive E-rate discounts, provided they meet the eligibility requirements of libraries.
E-RATE POLICIES & PROCEDURES
The E-Rate program, created by Congress in the Telecommunications Act of 1996,
Overseen by the Federal Communications Commission ( FCC)
Provides funding for needy schools and libraries to connect to and use the Internet
Funded by monies collected from telephone users Schools apply for funds to pay for hardware and
monthly connectivity service feesSchools must develop a technology plan and utilize
FY2011Schools must file form 470 and must ensure an open
and fair competitive bidding process

Design to be a Teacher Tool for Planning and Self-Assessing Aligned with The Long-Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020.
Source of data gather from an on-line survey.
HOW DOES THE STaR CHART WORKS?
Teachers complete an annual on-line survey with questions about Technology use in the classrooms.Data its collected and used by campus, districts and state policy makers for evaluation purposes.

Our school went from Advanced Tech status in 2009 to Developing Tech with a decreasing trend during the past three years from years 2009-10 to 2011-2012.
