Page 2: Ways to Follow Up After a Job Interview

#1 Ask About Next Steps Do this before you leave the Interview Ask what happens next so you will know

a time line when they should be contacting you.

Knowing the Time Line is key to when you should follow up with them.

Also important to know how they will be contacting you. Examples: Phone or E-mail?

#3 Thank You Notes Thank You Notes are so important and

should not be overlooked! Each person who was involved in your

interview process should receive a Thank You Not.

They should be sent right away!! When they receive your thank you note it

puts your name back in the mind, you don’t want them to forget you!

#3 Get Connected Ask if you can connect with them via LinkedIn This should be done while at the Interview

and if they agree be sure to connect. Make sure when you ask to connect it is part

of the conversation. Example: “I read an article that is doing something similar. May I forward it to you?”

When sending an invitation to connect make sure it is personal and not automated.

Make sure your LinkedIn Profile is complete and up-to-date.

#4 Check In If you still haven’t heard back with-in the

time line then it is perfectly acceptable to check-in.

Make sure you do this Periodically There is nothing wrong to simply ask “If

They had made a Decision?” After that connect with them once a month

by forwarding articles they might enjoy. Key point is to be on their mind without

over doing it.
