Karen Whitney, President

Operational & Executive Search Experience

Karen founded The Sonder Group in 2003 and works with emerging companies to deliver value by placing top executive leaders and scientists. Most recently, she was Vice President of Business Development at The NewcoGen Group (a Flagship Ventures Fund). In this role she built teams and the revenue streams for Genstruct (Selvanta) and BG Medicine (NASDAQ: BGMD), both personalized medicine companies.

For seventeen years, she held sales, marketing leadership roles at Celera Genomics, Applied Biosystems, (Life Technologies), and Pharmacia (GE Healthcare). Over the span of her career she has developed a wide network and a unique appreciation for the type of people who add value to today’s companies. She earned a Bachelors of Arts, PreMed at Colby College.
