What is the solar energy?

Solar energy is the energy obtained by capturing the light and heat emitted by the Sun.

How did solar energy originates?

It originates byDiscover: Physicist Edmond Becquerel

He found that some materials generated electric currents with the

light exposition.

Heinrich Hertz…Studied the effect on the solid, making

solar cells that changes light into electricity.

Bell Labs…

Used Czochraski technique.

Types of solar energy:

Photovoltaic solar panels:

are a set of photoelectric cells together which forms a solar panel. This solar panel produces energy through the photoelectric effect that makes them absorb photons of light and release electrons. When these free electrons are captured, the result is an electrical current that can be used as electricity.

Thermal solar panels: these solar

panels absorb solar heat to heat water for domestic use and home heating.

It consist of tubes mounted on aluminium covered by a glass plate. Solar heat is trapped between the glass and tubes.

Movement of solar panels.

As the sun moves, some solar panels move according to the position of the sun.

Solar energy nowadays

Battery chargers, fans, garden lamps, water pumps... Today, almost everything can run with solar power. There are also many solar panels that appear every day in new roofs, and it can also heat our homes and power the most remote places.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Advantages Disadvantages

-It is clean energy.

-It is respectful to the environment

-It comes from an inexhaustible energy source.

-Solar energy don’t produce waste.

-Do not use fuel.

-Requires large initial investment.

-Require large land.

-Is danger by the hight temperatures reach.

-The places where there is more radiation, are desert places and away.

-It has less performance than other systems.

EOLIC SOLAR ENERGY

Is a method for obtain energy which works with the air heated by the sun and rises through a chimney where the generators are.
