Follow these six steps to get on the right foot: The more detail your sponsor provides the better. 1. Find out what they want Take the brief and confirm your understanding of it. 2. Define what you think they want NEXT STAGE Key documents to complete: Project Environment Project Definition 3. Confirm your definitions match Run your definition end environment documents past the sponsor, and confirm that you're both on the same page about what the project is intended to achieve. What are their timescales, budget, expectations Once you've completed your document, show it to your sponsor. Once they're happy with it get their signature. 5. Sign-off Prepare a detailed plan of the tasks that need to be completed and their associated timescales. Then start assigning them to people to complete and monitoring their progress. 6. Time to get started! This will be the master document that defines the Who, What, When, Where and Why of a project. 4.
