Shape Magazine joined with major advertisers, including Reebok, Maybelline and Garnier, to create one of the largest mobile sweepstakes launched by an action code (e.g., Microsoft Tag or QR Code) in a national monthly magazine. The mobile campaign, built by Massachusetts-based Nellymoser, Inc., includes more than 30 Microsoft Tags spread across the advertising and editorial content. Users scan the Tags with their smartphone, such as an Apple iPhone or Android device, to enter to win one of hundreds of prizes. The “Smart Sweepstakes,” which leverages Nelllymoser’s mobile engagement platform, is designed to increase participation across editorial and sponsor content. Readers scan a Microsoft Tag and then enter their personal information only once. The information is automatically copied for each other entry. Sponsors can provide additional information when their code is scanned. This simplified registration process with targeted information keeps readers engaged in the magazine and increases the reader response rate.
