Page 18: Seven habits of highly effective people

For Long term beneficial resultsThere has to be P/PC balance

P – ProductionPC – Production Capability

Page 19: Seven habits of highly effective people

Habit 1

Be Pro-active

Page 20: Seven habits of highly effective people

Our conditioning depends on- Genetic determinism- Psychic determinism- Environmental determinism

Our choices are determined by the above 3 conditioning

Page 21: Seven habits of highly effective people

Habit 1 says “You are the creator. You are in charge”.It is based on imagination, conscience, independent will and self-

awareness.

Page 22: Seven habits of highly effective people

- In the space between stimulus and response we are free to make a choice. We should not wait for stimuli and then respond. This is reactive behavior.

We need to be pro-active.

- Taking the initiative- It is more than that.- Proactive people do not blame circumstances, conditions or

conditioning for their behavior. The behavior is a product of their own conscious choice , based on values.

Page 23: Seven habits of highly effective people

Pro-active people carry their own weather with themReactive people are affected by social environment or social

weather.Theryreact to how society treats them

Proactive people are driven by values and not by circumstances

Habit 2

Begin with the end in Mind

Page 27: Seven habits of highly effective people

All things are created twiceFirst there is the mental creationSecond the physical creation.

Carpenter’s rule – Measure twice, cut once

If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.

Page 28: Seven habits of highly effective people

It is first mental creation based on imagination, the ability to envision

Page 29: Seven habits of highly effective people

On a vacation you plan the routePlan, plan your moves in lifeHabit 1 says you are the creatorHabit 2 is the first creation

What do you want be in 3, 5 10 years in your professional career.

Page 30: Seven habits of highly effective people

If you don’t know where you are going, you will go nowhere!

Page 31: Seven habits of highly effective people

Habit 2 is based on the principles of Personal Leadership

Leadership is doing the right things. Management is doing things right.

We need to have a long term vision, a goal.

Page 32: Seven habits of highly effective people

Create a Personal mission statementWhat do you want to achieve in your personal, professional and

social lives?Your actions will flow from your personal mission statement“To have a quality life at home, to become a VP with the next 12

years and to increase my circle of friends to 500+”

Page 33: Seven habits of highly effective people

To write a personal mission statement we need to start at the center of the Circle of Influence

Here we have our vision and values. We have principles and our paradigms.

At the center we have security, direction, wisdom and the capacity to act.

Page 34: Seven habits of highly effective people

Behind opposing positions are common interests.

Focus on interests and not on positions (Getting to Yes

In 1978 Israel occupied Mount Sinai since the 6 day war of 1967

Egypt wanted every bit of Mount Sinai back while Israel insisted on keeping it. It appeared incompatible
