Scott RamsayScene Analysis
Scene
11 second club, November 2010 entry.
“Ice Cream” by N. Pinet
Dialogue
“You stole it!”
“I thought you put it there”
“WHY! Would I put it there??!”
“Kindness?”
“Kiiinnnddddnesss!?? You stole it! He stole
it!”
Story
From the dialogue we can already identify
that one character has taken something that
belongs to the other. This is made even
more clear by the choice of colour and
scenery.
Clever Colour
By making the ice cream blue, it is therefore
easy for the audience to identify who the ice
cream belongs to.
Which allows for a simple set, which doesn't
steal focus from the animation.
Staging
Only five different shots were used.
Shot 1
Displays the
confrontation and
anger.
Keeps the blue side
slightly hidden.
AngerContrasting curves.
Line leads to the ice cream.
Shot 2
Reveals that there is two sides to the room.
Shows the whole body, allowing more expression.
Disbelief
First and last curve have drastic difference.Good use of squash and stretch to exaggerate.
Shot 3
Focuses on the
upper body.
Easier to read
facial
expression.
Thinking
Great use of inner dialogue.
Character thinks of an excuse before speaking.
Shot 4
Focuses on the
upper body.
Easier to read
reaction.
TimingCharacter lets information
sink in before he reacts.
Shot 5
Returns to showing both characters.
Ice cream falling for comical effect.
Shows the whole body, allowing more expression.
Conclusion
This is a strong animation due to the strong
key poses and good use of animation
principles used throughout to display the
characters emotions such as,
Anger
Disbelief
Confusion
