Rivne region is a promising location for investors. Favourable geographic position, significant industrial, resource and human potential, well-developed infrastructure, social and cultural sphere provide strong background for its further dynamic development.
Nowadays it is an industrial and agricultural region, rich in natural resources (wood, water, deposits of amber, basalts, granites, tuffs, peat, feedstock for construction materials and glassware) and inhabited by hard-working and friendly people.
With a view to efficient use of available resources and maintaining high profitability of production the purposeful work on refocusing economy into investment and innovative development model is being conducted. Increase of investments inflow is a priority area for regional authorities. At this point, systematic measures for promoting favourable investment climate, encouraging and facilitating the investors’ activity in the territory of the region are being implemented.
This booklet is a part of a comprehensive approach to informing prospective investors about potential and investment opportunities of the Rivne region.

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATIONRivne Region is located in the north-west of Ukraine and enjoys favorable geographic position for servicing the markets of the European Union, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. The Region is situated at the crossroads of international motorways and railways connecting Europe with Asia and the Baltic Sea with the Black Sea. The distance to the EU border is just 100 km (1.5 hours drive) and 250 km (3 hours drive) to Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. During evaluation in 2007, the specialists of the Financial Times admitted that Rivne region is the lowest cost location for business in Europe located in its very heart.

Their share amounts to 80% of the total value. Countries with advanced economy have equal structure, about 60-80%.

Establishing facility producing agglomerates – building finishes used as tabletops for bathrooms and kitchens, composite material for steps and flooring tiles. Agglomerates fully imitate the image of natural stone and allow receiving any other creative pictures or surface finishes due to the composite use of various stones in one product.

Establishing innovative facility producing magnesite slabs “Mag-Be” – facing (finishing) material, alternative to plasterboard and siding (exterior trim material). The slabs are produced on the basis of combining basalt fiber, magnesite, bischofite (natural mineral salt), glass fiber and pine sawdust (straw).
Market
Ukrainian building materials market is provided with import magnesite slabs from China. Notwithstanding their comparatively low quality, Chinese magnesite slabs gradually oust plasterboard and siding. World production of magnesite slabs is mostly concentrated at Chinese plants and is widely used within the country and for export to Asian-Pacific Region, the USA, Europe, Russia and Arabic countries.
Advantages
Unlike flammable and destructive to human health plasterboard, magnesite slabs “Mag-Be” are absolutely incombustible and ecologically clean material.Due to the use of specific innovative technology, “Mag-Be” slabs are 1,7–2,5 times harder than reinforced concrete, bear the properties of wood (low heat conductivity and easy sawing), provide sound isolation and are not hurt if exposed to fire, water, mold, insects or rodents.The prime cost of “Mag-be” slabs will be lower than equivalent slabs of Chinese production.

Growing and processing Miscanthus giganteus

Investment idea
Producing hard biofuel on the basis of Miscanthus giganteus – perennial, warm-season grass capable of surviving Ukrainian winter. The grass is sterile and must be propagated from rootstock. After single initial planting it gives yield 20-30 tons dry matter from 1 ha during 20-25 years. It is absolutely pest resistant and does not require fertile soil.
MarketEurope, Canada, USA, China and Japan have been growing the plant for over 15 years and are currently buying biomass from other countries. Large-scale growing of Miscanthus has not yet been set in Ukraine.
Advantages
In comparison to other energy plantings, it has very high energy efficiency and very low fertilizer demand and labour input while growing. With its 4-meter stem the plant contains 54-71 % cellulose. The process of burning does not cause greenhouse effect. Combustion of crop from 1 ha reveals heat equivalent to 18-28 tons of coil or 15 000 cubic m of gas. It has been proved that Miscanthus restores degraded soil.
