IS Monthly Report for December 2000 DEPARTMENT: APPLICATION FRAMEWORK Date: December 22, 2000 HIGHLIGHTS GSK US Pharma IT Methodology (SDLC) Recommendation Project completed on- time with SB. PL/SQL Developer’s Tool Project. This project was completed and the recommendation was made to the COIS Directors and VP on December 11 th . It was approved to purchase licenses for Quest tools. GSK Risk Assessment for Technologies. This was taken out of draft form and finalized with Peter Isakson of SB. We assisted SB to load it onto their intranet. Peter will distribute it to the new senior management team shortly for review. KMS Version 1.6 for COIS launched. This deadline was met for the SDLC/Methodology portion. The SB IRNA Methodology was chosen after evaluating the COIS, CFIS, CRC (Rational), and SB IRNA methodologies against the requirements. KMS (Knowledge Management Solution) Project:Version 1.6 was placed into production this month. It is a huge release and includes six months of enhancements and fixes. Here are the major tasks completed this month associated with the different versions:

KMS version 1.6: assisted in beta testing and performed troubleshooting and correction of bugs discovered during testing performed system changes according to suggestions that resulted from beta testing finalized rollout plans tested and modified KMS Janitor logic to account for special cases completed rollout of KMS version 1.6 to all sites performed support tasks for MDS users Reviewed COIS Site Maintenance intranet site and documented possible usability issues

KMS version 1.7: Designed and began implementation of KMS Chameleon page, including tree view department filter Began work on the check-in/check-out feature

Technical Writing and Web Publishing – Services and Projects

e-Commerce: On call during the implementation. Fixed Help application defects and corrected text. Worked with others on

the documentation project.

CARS/IS Performed peer review of Help Completed testing of Help

eForce: Delivered the final draft of the Site Visit Checklist. The technical and business auditors of potential Learning

Management System (LMS) vendors used this checklist during their visits to the vendor sites in mid-December.

Compiled and published the results of the Site Visits using the completed Site Visit Checklists. Delivered the final draft of the Request for Information (RFI) for courseware and distance learning technology

vendors. The team distributed this RFI to potential vendors on 12/8. Completed a draft design of the eForce functional design specification and its corresponding change request

form.

IWA project: Created a new folder. Performed weekly deletions.

PL/SQL Developer’s Tool Project: Created and finalized recommendation document.

IPP Sales Document Continued work on the IPP Sales technical documentation.

SAS Standards Updated the final version of these. Small edits coming in.

Passport Worked with Randy Jones to gather requirements for Passport/Sampling technical documents. Reviewed online help.

IAF Work continues on the IAF documentation.

Training, Cross-Training, and Information Sharing One technical communicator attended DB Basic's week-long Web Boot Camp, which covered Macromedia's

Flash, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks applications. Began self-study review of Flash development process. Began CBT classes.

Other

Researched data mining tools, contacts, and information. Created a service agreement (SLA) template. Worked with QA trying to debug problems in the Passport Help file.
