Modern buying

Kevlar

Kevlar is a synthetic fibre with a high penetration resistance. It is more flexible and lighter than steel. A Kevlar insole is not heat- or cold- conductive.Kevlar also gives extra flexibility to footwear. Due to this extra flexibility it is possible to protect more than 90% of the foot surface against penetration. (With a steel insole the maximum protection is 85%)

Composite

Composite is a fibre reinforced synthetic material which is stronger than steel and lighter in weight.Composite is easily shaped and therefore extremely suitable for use in toecaps for safety footwear. Above all composite is not heat- or cold- conductive.

European Certification ISO 20345

All our safety footwear carries the CE-label. This means that they conform to the European requirements.The different properties quoted in the requirements for ISO 20345 are specified in symbols.

Explanation of symbols

SB Safety footwear for professional use with a protective toecap that is tested to an impact of 200 joules.S1 Same as SB plus antistatic properties, energy absorbent heel and closed heel.S2 Same as S1 plus water repellent.S3 Same as S2 plus penetration resistant midsole and cleated sole.S4 Footwear composed entirely of rubber or other polymeric material.S5 Same as S4 plus penetration resistant insole and cleated sole.
