“A former interior designer, the founder of the extensive online shop featuring collectibles sourced from Latin countries has a keen eye

for exquisite and kitschy home décor.”-DailyCandy.com

LAMA Designs was started by Christine Martinez after over a year abroad in

Latin America. She discovered that "Its ancient artisans have evolved into

imaginative designers and its unknown cities are becoming exciting

metropolises with contemporary cafes and chic boutiques." And she decided to

bring the much deserved attention to these amazing designers. Thus LAMA (Latin America in the Modern Age) was

born!

PWB General Purpose: • This event recognizes FBLA chapters that develop and

implement the most innovative, creative, and effective partnership plan.

• The purpose of this project is to learn about a business through communication and interaction with the business community.

Page 7: Business Idea Portfolio

1. To communicate Latin American culture to international communities through LAMA’s unique products.

2. To ensure customer satisfaction through LAMA’s online store.

3. To increase LAMA’s profits while providing more publicity to target customers.

Page 8: Business Idea Portfolio

• Online Publicity is crucial for LAMA Designs. Since our customer base is drawn from users of the web, our goal is to make LAMA user friendly and to get the word out about products.

Page 9: Business Idea Portfolio

• Goal: To increase # of followers. • Why? More followers means more customers. • 320 followers (as of 7/27/09)

• Goal: 500 followers

Page 10: Business Idea Portfolio

• I created 3 designs of “Follow LAMA on Twitter.” You can post the picture you want on your website or blog and create a link that directs the user to twitter.com/LAMAdesigns • Frequent visitors of LAMA may also post the picture on their own website that will directly take them to the link.

Design #1: This design is meant to emphasize the LAMA logo. The bright

blue pops out and stands nicely against the faded, typewriter font.

Page 12: Business Idea Portfolio

Design #2: The vintage and indie feel to the font really represents LAMA well. The bright, light blue LAMA logo catches your eye, and the two Twitter birds accent the

print well.

Page 13: Business Idea Portfolio

Design #3: The modern and trendy font brings out what LAMA products are really

about. The cute birds from Twitter add color and make this an eye-catching print.

• Create a YouTube Account for LAMA• Feature New Products, Artists, Designers • Interview Christine Martinez- the creator of LAMA• Announce important LAMA News

Page 15: Business Idea Portfolio

1. Rules: Create a 60 second or less commercial featuring LAMA Designs and its amazing products. Be sure to stick to the Latin American theme and include lively, fun music.

2. How to Enter: • Upload your video to your YouTube account at

www.youtube.com/my_videos_upload• Copy the URL to your uploaded video, and paste it in the

field below• Hit “Submit Video”

3. Prizes: All video submissions will be judged by a panel of FBLA PWB members and Christine.

Page 16: Business Idea Portfolio

• To promote the Video Contest, I will create an official poster with all the rules and

information. Once Christine approves this idea, I will make the following designs nicer

and add more things. • The following is a mock-up of what to

expect.

Page 17: Business Idea Portfolio

These are just mock-ups. I will make it more aesthetically pleasing for everyone. The empty

spaces will be filled with the LAMA logo, YouTube logo, and the rules/ info for the contest.

Page 18: Business Idea Portfolio

This is another version with minor changes. I am having trouble with the arrangement of the LAMA

logo. I don’t know where to put it. I would like a thin, lined border around this poster as well.

Page 19: Business Idea Portfolio

• On postcard size cards, print the LAMA newsletter featuring the latest products. The newsletter can serve as a mini-catalog for LAMA.

• This is a non-internet based form of advertising that may or may not work.

• Send these as postcards to customers who have already bought from LAMADesigns.com. Christine knows their mailing addresses so sending a small postcard is easy and a good way to keep good customers.

Page 20: Business Idea Portfolio

• Since Latin American culture celebrates many holidays all throughout the year, each Newsletter will be published and released a couple days before the celebratory date.

• For each holiday, there should be only a select number of products featured and discounted from LAMA.

• Promo Codes or Coupons can be posted online through the LAMA Twitter, Facebook, Blog, Newsletter, etc.

Page 21: Business Idea Portfolio

• New Years Day- Jan. 1• Three Kings Day- Jan. 6• Valentine’s Day- Feb. 14• Dia de los Ninos- Apr. 30• Cinco de Mayo- May 5• LAMA Anniversary- July 21 • Hispanic Heritage Month-Sept. 15• Dia de la Raza- Oct. 12• Dia de los Muertos- Nov. 2 • Thanksgiving- Nov. 26• Navidad- Dec. 25

Christine, choose which holidays you think are significant and are worthy of having a separate newsletter. Keep in

mind how far apart the months are please.

Page 22: Business Idea Portfolio

• The following were copied from Christine’s LAMA Blog. Christine has already been

creating newsletters but not frequently and on a regular basis.

• We would like to create more LAMA newsletters (like hers) every time there is an

important Latin American holiday.

Page 26: Business Idea Portfolio

• The front page of LAMADesigns.com has a sign up box for a mailing list

• Christine, does the mailing list exist? • If so, we can send those people the LAMA

Newsletters instead of sending them individual postcards.

Page 27: Business Idea Portfolio

• Enable faster checkout for LAMA customers by providing a variety of ways to pay for their shopping cart.

• Google Checkout is a fast and simple way for LAMA customers to buy things with the click of a button.

• Ultimately, it is Christine’s decision whether to use Google Checkout on her website or not. We are just informing her of other ways to make her website user-friendly.

• See the website for more info: checkout.google.com/sell• Google Checkout Tour: checkout.google.com/buyer/tour

Page 28: Business Idea Portfolio

• The Director of the Fullerton Chamber of Commerce, Theresa Harvey, is a strong advocate of what PWB does. Therefore, she and I may be able to join forces to arrange a “Latin American Nite”

• LAMADesigns.com can host this social event in late January • This won’t be difficult to arrange because every month there is already a

Networking Luncheon and Social scheduled for businessmen or women in Fullerton.

• Silent Auction, Live music, Salsa dancers, Spanish food, Pinatas, etc. • This idea is a bit grand for us so we will hold off on this until we see how

much we can do. I’m not even sure how effective this will be.

Page 29: Business Idea Portfolio

To create the most effective partnership and business plan, we need to compare our business strategies. Every tiny

increase in profits, number of fans or viewers, etc all matters to us. I will keep any specified information confidential if you

feel uncomfortable with releasing this.

Page 30: Business Idea Portfolio

• Ask Christine for…– Current Google Analytics

Data• LAMA Website Clicks• Blog, Twitter, Facebook

• PWB will check Google Analytics every 2 weeks and record our progress

• We will determine which strategy is most effective and report back to you directly

Page 31: Business Idea Portfolio

• Any data is important to record and analyze– Company Annual Reports – Monthly Profit Records– Statistics
