DESCRIPTION

These slides describe a business model for conformal electronics that is based on my (Jeffrey Funk) class on business models at the National University of Singapore. Such electronics combine organic materials and meshes to be flexible, breathable and water proof. For example, a major application is in health care. They can be attached to the skin as skin patches to gather and transmit physiological data. For more detail on business models in general, see my (Jeff Funk) slides.

limited professional resources • 1 physician, 2 nurses, and 2 hospital beds per

704 population in 2011

growing elderly population • 1 in every 6 people > age 65 in 2025

– increasingly prone to numerous health risks

– shortage of funds

US’ medicare hospital fund to bankrupt by 2024
