All that You want to know about Tallits The tallit, also pronounced as tallis is a prayer shawl. It is the most authentic Jewish garment. It is a rectangular-shaped piece of linen or wool with special fringes called Tzitzit on each of the four corners. The purpose of the garment is to hold the Tzitzit. Most tallits have a neckband, called an Atarah, which most often has the blessing of the one who recited when donning the tallit, embroidered across it. What is the need of wearing a Tallit?
