Current Situation : The Indian automotive market is one of the most competitive markets with low costs, which make it an attractive assembly base for foreign automotive manufacturers Cars is the major segment in the Indian automotive industry with a growth rate of more than 19% annually The Indian car industry is witnessing a shift in demand going from two wheelers to cars due to rising availability of low cost cars and the car being a symbol of high prestige

Premier Automobiles entered the market in 1944 Mahindra & Mahindra entered the industry in 1945 TELCO entered the market in 1945 with commercial vehicles Hindustan Ambassador & Premier Padmini were the most popular & best selling cars at that time In 1983, Maruti Udyog Ltd. introduced the trend setter car in the country named 800, popularly known as Maruti Car

About the Indian Automobile Industry In recent years the automobile industry in India has grown by leaps and bounds In India it is one of the largest in the world and one of the fastest growing globally The Indian Automobile Industry is manufacturing over 11 million vehicles and exporting about 1.5 million every year
