Find the Size of your Tires

First and foremost, you need to figure out the size of your tires. All the information you need is right on the top of the tire itself. A common label will say something like “P200/70R16.” To break this down for you, “P” means it’s a passenger tire, “200″ is the width of the tire in millimeters, “70″ is the tire’s aspect ratio, or height to width ratio, “R” indicates a radial tire, and finally, “16″ is the diameter of the wheel in inches.

How Often Do You Drive it?

The next step in choosing your tires depends more on you than your car. If you drive in bad weather conditions all year round you will want all-weather, year-round tires. If you drive a lot every single day, look for long-lasting tires that won’t wear out quickly. To ensure your vehicle is always running the best it possibly can, you should be equipped with both summer tires and a separate set for winter-weather.

Tread Life

Tire companies are always coming up with interesting new ways to market and describe their tire treads, but the bottom line is that most of them are very much alike when it comes to quality, making durability an important determining factor.

Timing

Knowing when to change your tires is also important. The easiest way to find out if your tires are worn down is by placing a penny in the treads, and if any part of Lincoln’s head is visible, you need to replace your tires.
