Honda City prices will further go up by Rs 8000 to Rs 10000
Shocking news for the flagship sedan Honda City enthusiasts that after raising price of this
sedan by up to Rs 10,500 few days ago following the hike in excise duty for Budget 2012-13,
the company today announced that it will again increase the Honda City price by up to Rs
10,000 from April 1st, 2012.
Last week, Honda Sail Cars India Limited hiked the Honda City price by Rs 5,000 to Rs
10,500 across different variants. And, after this announcement this flagship sedan City was
priced between Rs 7.1 lakh and Rs 10.33 lakh at ex-showroom Delhi. The company increased
the Honda car prices by up to Rs 93,975 following hike up to up 2 per cent in excise duty in
the Indian Budget 2012-13. It is too reported that Honda City features will see a cut but price
will be increased. We expect that if Honda City gets this price increase it would face tough
competition to Nissan Sunny, Skoda Rapid, Maruti SX4, Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna
etc. rivals.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee raised excise duty to 12 per cent from 10 per cent in the
Budget 2012-13 for petrol cars have under 1,200 cc engine and diesel cars have 1,500 cc
engine. Meanwhile, excise duty over four metres length vehicles was increased to 24 per cent
from 22 per cent with a fixed duty of Rs 15,000.

Petrol and diesel driven vehicles with length of over four metres and engine capacity of over
1,200 cc and 1,500 cc respectively now have excise duty of 27 per cent than 22 per cent
earlier with a fixed duty of Rs 15,000.
The price hike for other Honda cars in India has been affected from March 17, and the entry
level small car Brio is costlier by Rs 4,000 to Rs 10,000. Now, it is available at price ranging
between Rs 3.99 lakh and Rs 5.2 lakh while, premium hatchback Honda Jazz price has been
hiked by Rs 14,972 to Rs 15,000 and all the variants of the vehicle are available between Rs
5.75 lakh to Rs 6.31 lakh.

The premium sedan Honda Civic price has been raised by Rs 36,600 to Rs 45,800. And now
it’s all the variants are available between Rs 12.59 lakh to Rs 14.88 lakh. Meanwhile, the
luxury sedan Honda Accord has seen a price hike of Rs 67,500 to Rs 93,975 and all the
variants of the vehicle are available between Rs 20.29 lakh and Rs 27.37 lakh at ex-
showroom Delhi.
