For generations, the Mustang has been the pinnacle of the american performance world, slamming rivals Camaro and Charger in many ways.
It's substantial V8 engine has been the most impactful reason for it's dominance, as well as the power numbers it's been capable of producing over the years have
been absolutely awesome.
This has triggered a large aftermarket following in addition to crowds of gearheads during Ford
sponsored car exhibits across the globe.
But all that is going to change in 2015, at which point Ford will begin stuffing the Mustang's engine bay with a newly revamped
2.3L Turbocharged I4 powerplant.
Ford didn't get too clever with naming the 2015 Mustang Ecoboost, but it will pack an impressive 310whp / 320wtq to the rear wheels, having help from
the performance tuned twin-scroll turbo. The Mustang Ecoboost 0-60 spec is impressive likewise - providing a time of 5. 6 seconds as well as speeding
down the dragstrip in 14.1 seconds.
The Ecoboost Mustang is delivered with some impressive power figures off the showroom floor which usually poses an
interesting question intended for like-minded readers of this website. "What can we expect the actual Mustang Ecoboost aftermarket scene to look like? A very good question indeed.
Many interested parties expect a ton of basic bolt-on's like catback exhausts and cold air
intakes, with suspension enhancements and plug and play tuner modules likely hitting the
aftermarket too.
We also expect a huge variety of aftermarket performance pieces to increase the power output of
the Ecoboost Mustang including turbocharger upgrades, downpipes, and (hopefully) tubular exhaust
manifolds. The possibilities are endless.
