TIPS FOR TAKING GOOD
PICTURES
Too High Better
LOOK YOUR SUBJECT IN THE EYEHOLD THE CAMERA AT EYE LEVEL OF THE PERSON
Distracting Background Better
USE A PLAIN BACKGROUND
• Plain background
shows off subject
• Make sure no
distractions in
background
(poles, cars, othe
r people)
Subject is too dark
Sun can create shadows
“Force Flash” or “Fill Flash” will lighten up the subject
Especially important on cloudy days
Now you can see his expression
USE FLASH OUTDOORS
Good
Take a step or two closer than you normally
would – Try to be about 3 feet away
Fill the entire picture area
Better
MOVE IN CLOSER
Boring
Picture a tick-tack toe board on the picture and try to move the subject to the corners of the board
Lock the focus while subject is in middle then move over
Better
MOVE IT FROM THE MIDDLE
Flash won’t reach subject
Pictures taken beyond the flash’s range are
too dark
Flash can reach about 5 steps away from you
(10 feet)
With flash on subject
KNOW YOUR FLASHES RANGE
Your subject may move, bolt,
fly away, stop smiling, or just
get tired of waiting for you to
take the picture, so shoot
once right away
After you can take another
picture
Takes Practice!
BE QUICK!
