I’ve been using Adobe Photoshop a lot to edit my photos of Beverley. I’ve used various tools to improve the appearances of the photographs and to make it look more professional for a music magazine.

Editing using Photoshop

This is the original photo I took for my double page spread. I was really pleased with the photo and was planning on placing text down the left hand side. However in some areas the font wasn’t clear and was difficult to read.

To fix this issue I decided to edit the photo on Photoshop and make one half of the image blurred. This has made it easier to read the text as well as adding quite an unusual effect to the image.

This is the basic layout of my double page spread. Without the text you can tell that certain objects and features in the image could effect the text.

Now that I’ve blurred the image you can tell that text will be much clearer as the blurred effect as dulled the bright colours from the sea and her shoes.

I was using the ‘Patch Tool’ tool to remove any random bits of hair that were sticking up.

I also removed any impurities such as spots using the ‘Spot Healing’ tool.

I wanted Beverley to overlap my title ‘Promo’ as it looks professional. So I needed to cut around her hair so I could keep the front cover image in the same place but place her hair over the title.

I tired various methods to remove the black graffiti in the photo

because it made it hard to read the black text.
