DESCRIPTION
We want our historic photography to connect people across America with the history of their communities. And we believe the best way to foster that connection is to provide clear, crisp, high-resolution images that can truly take them back in time. The time and techniques we put into our digital image restoration means a tattered old photograph can become new again. To get there takes some work, but we think its worth it. Our photo restoration works to counter a variety of factors that cause the degradation of a photograph, including rips, tears, stains, fading and scratches. Combating these takes patience, skill, and the experience to know what effects should be applied when. This presentation features a walk-through of our restoration of a torn old photograph of Nicolette Avenue in Minneapolis, Minnesota, produced by the Detroit Publishing Company at the turn of the century. The original photograph was pulled from the collections of the Library of Congress.
