•  In  2011,  began  implemenBng  ISO  50001  

Energy  strategy  has  resulted  in  a  21%  energy  intensity  reducBon  (BTU/unit)  since  2001.      

Unable  to  aWribute  savings  to  EnMS  per  se.  Company  received  a  lot  of  outside  support  which  allowed  it  to  improve  energy  savings

•  CerBficaBon  was  not  a  driver  

Already  experience  with  ISO  9000,  14001  and  OSHAS  •  ISO  500001  is  similar  to  14001  so  implementaBon  relaBvely  easy  

Cost:  2  weeks  of  FTE  +  EUR  3000  for  energy  audit  

Unable  to  claim  savings  due  to  ISO  50001  •  Too  early  to  tell  and  systems  were  already  more  or  less  in  place

•  Tying  to  performance  improvements  is  key

Companies  have  new  EnMS  obligaBons  under  the  12FYP  (Top  10,000  program)  

•  Provinces  are  responsible  for  promoBng  EnMS  implementaBon  

Working  with  the  China  NaBonal  InsBtute  for  StandardisaBon  (CNIS)  and  Center  for  Industrial  for  Energy  Efficiency  (CIEE)  to  develop  sector-­‐specific  EnMS  guidelines  and  pilot  EnMP  design  

For  companies:  case  studies  on  EnMS  implementaBon  

For  governments:  bringing  internaBonal  experts  to  help  crai  EnMS  program
