TAJMAHAL• The Taj Mahal a white marble mausoleum in Agra is an example of Indian

Architechture.• Its one of the World’s Seven Wonders.• It was built by  Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his wife

Mumtaz Mahal. The work started in 1632 and completed in 1653 with the aid of 20,000 artisans.

• It is widely recognized as "the jewel of Muslim art in India".

FATHER OF INDIA• The father of the nation- Mahatma Gandhi is one definite

person/reason to identify India. He has an inevitable role in making India a free country and giving her a set of ideologies. His non-violent freedom struggle movements and ideologies like Satyagraha, Salt March and Civil Disobedience played a major role in the Indian Independence. 

TRADITIONAL MEDICINE SYSTEM

• INDIA is known for its traditional medicinal systems-Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani. 

• Medical systems are found mentioned even in the ancient Vedas and other scriptures.

• The Ayurvedic concept appeared and developed between 2500 and 500 BC in India.

FAMILY SYSTEM

• For generations, India has had a prevailing tradition of the joint family system. It is a system under which extended members of a family - parents, children, the children's spouses and their offspring, etc. live together. Usually, the oldest male member is the head in the joint Indian family system. He makes all important decisions and rules, and other family members abide by them. 

ARRANGED MARRIAGE

• For centuries, arranged marriages have been the tradition in Indian society. Even today, the majority of Indians have their marriages planned by their parents and other respected family-members.

• In most marriages the bride's family provide a dowry to the bridegroom.

• In India, the divorce rate is low - 1% compared with about 40% in the

United States.

THE ROYAL BENGAL TIGER

• It is the National animal of INDIA.• Bengal tiger populations in India have been estimated as 2226.• Bengal tigers may weigh up to 325 kg (717 lb) and reach a

head and body length of 320 cm (130 in)• Over the past century tiger numbers have fallen dramatically,

with a decreasing population trend.

Dances that beautify INDIA•Indian dance includes eight classical dance forms, many in narrative forms with mythological elements. The eight classical forms accorded classical dance status by India's National Academy of Music, Dance, and Drama are: Bharatanatyam of the state of Tamil Nadu, Kathak of Uttar Pradesh, Kathakali and Mohiniattam of Kerala, Kuchipudi of AndhraPradesh,  Vakshagana of Karnataka, Manipuri of Manipur, Odissi (orissi) of the state of Odisha and the Sattriya of Assam.

SPORTS THAT INDIA LOVES

• Cricket is considered the most popular sport in India• A large number of football is played in the Indian state of West Begal. • Chess is commonly believed to have originated in northwestern India

during the Gupta empire, where its early form in the 6th century was known as chaturanga. Other games which originated in India and continue to remain popular in wide parts of northern India include Kabaddi, Gilli-danda, and Kho kho. Traditional southern Indian games include Snake boat race and Kuttiyum kolum.

Contribution to Mathematics

• Albert Einstein once said “We owe a lot to Indians who taught us how to count, without which no worthwhile scientific discovery could have been made”.

• Famous Indian mathematicians including Aryabhatta and Ramanujam made some of the most important and essential contributions to mathematics, including giving the world the concept of ‘zero’ without which the world simply would not have advanced.

MOST WET &DRY LANDS IN INDIA• Mawsynram is a village in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya state in

north-eastern India, 65 kilometres from Shillong. It is reportedly the wettest place on Earth, with an annual rainfall of 11,872 millimetres (467.4 in)

• Cherrapunji still holds the all-time record for the most rainfall in a calendar month and in a year: it received 9,300 mm (366 in) in July 1861 and 26,461 mm (1,041.75 in) between 1 August 1860 and 31 July 1861.

• The Thar Desert, also known as the Great Indian Desert, is a large, arid region in the northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent that forms a natural boundary between India and Pakisthan. About 85% of the Thar Desert is in India, and the remaining part in Pakistan. In India, it covers about 320,000 km2(120,000 sq mi), of which 60% is in Rajasthan and extends into Gujarat, Punjab, and Haryana.

UNITED AS ONE INDIA

• The four of the major religions of the world- Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism and Jainism originated in India .

• It is the second most populous country in the world. With a population of 1.2 billion, it makes up for about a seventh of the world’s entire population.

• Eventhough India is diversified as such, it is united as one.
